Of course Romney is so wealthy that he can personally create 12 million jobs. Of course they will pay way less than minimum wages and those jobs will be only part part time, maybe a few hours a week at best.

After all, the home foreclosure industry is booming. Someone has to do the dirty work. And even better yet, why have expensive law enforcement officials do the dirty work, when we can cut down on government over head by firing the lot. And therein is the pure genius of the Romney plan, because while one part of the starving middle class gets some employment by foreclosing on their neighbors, they will be away from their homes while the other starving middle class members foreclose on their homes.

It doesn't feel right demonizing the businesspeople in this case. The workers are paid professionals, and if the company asks them to spend their time training Chinese workers that is reasonable. It's also reasonable for company leaders to attempt to maximize profits by reducing the cost of production--after all there are many investors who they owe a moral obligation to do their best to return a profit. When I invest in a company, I do not expect them to use my money at their discretion for charitable purposes--I can do that on my own.

That said, the stories of the individuals affected are certainly sad. It's likely they don't have a lot of other opportunities in the area. But there are other, more productive ways to address this--i.e. strengthening the social safety net, that don't demonize successful businesspeople.

Yes it does - they trashed a bunch of people's livelihood to make a quick buck.

Are these people owed a livelihood by the people in question? It seems to me businesspeople provided these people an opportunity--to make a wage for their services. Are you proposing any offer of a fair wage by a businessperson be permanent? The same incentives for profit that created these jobs in the first place is what sent them to China.

My point is we shouldn't be demonizing business for operating effectively. We should recognize there are people who temporarily suffer as a result of this process and strengthen the social safety net.

Maximum profits are a priority over jobs and a stable prosperous middle class. Got it.

No wonder Romney/Ryan have to lie their asses off to win an election.

Liberals want companies to run their businesses at losses.

The guy saying that he didn't know how anybody could vote for Romney needs to get a shave, maybe he could find another job.

Obama has more to do with them moving to China than Romney.

But the government doesn't create jobs.

Mitt= I will create 12 million jobs.

lol

When you slash and burn the government largess, capitalism can return to this country and, in theory, we can have past growth return. Reality is that, yes, the world is different, our economy is global, and !@#$ isn't ever going to as good as it used to be.

Still doesn't discount the need to stop smothering capital and constricting the market by government fiat. Stimulus and mandates pick winners and losers, DESTROYS investment by placing returns at the whims of madmen in government.

The conservative motto is to free the market, to use the engine that built this nation into the greatest power on earth. Whether that still exists or not is another question.

That engine was well protected by walls of tariffs. When the tariffs went, so did the engine. Protectionism worked, it just worked for the wrong people.

Seriously...why do you think China or Japan or any other country protects its markets so vehemently?

Problem is Honeywell most likely sold that division due to it losing money. It's a tuff market trying to make electronic components here in the US. Competition from China most likely killed that division, not Bain.
