I see your point, but the OP is trying to generalize this to "Israel would be in charge of my Middle East foreign policy" i.e. the title of this thread. That is quite a reach given the quoted language.

Garbage in, garbage out wrt Romney. He refers to Israel as an "Ally" twice in the same quote, when they're not. Nato members are allies, for example. He also offers that we should stand behind them because they are allies, and that we should seek their "guidance", as if such would actually benefit us, as if we need their "guidance".

The slurpage wrt AIPAC and the rest of the Israeli lobby is obvious and demeaning for any presidential candidate.

The US president is a subordinate to Israel anyway. The candidates know they have no chance in hell of ever becoming US president unless they kiss Israel's arse.

Hit piece or latest bit of pandering by Mr. Romney? I think you could spin his comments to relate only to the specific decision making process of where to place U.S. embassies, but he really does seem to be talking more generally from the way I'm reading it.

You really don't think the subtext of his message there is that he won't make a move in the Middle East without Israel's tacit approval? I'm far from a Israel basher and this is screaming that at me.
