There won't be a recount and this doesn't change the end numbers either. The votes are certified and the tally phoned in at the precincts. These votes are already a part of the tally. The driving of ballots to Des Moines is merely a formality so that the party has a central record. By that time, the votes are already counted and certified.

I and everyone that I saw register at the caucus had to present their driver's license.

Not being there I can't say. Did search for it after the recent push by the GOP to require photo ID to vote and found several reports to the contrary.

I have no idea if it was required but its just what they were asking for at my precinct. I could ask around at work and find out about a couple of others. I doubt it was like this statewide but since my precinct was the second largest in the state I feel comfortable with the caucus this year.

Nope sorry, absolutely not. I never said they were required, but everyone that I saw registering was asked for their driver's licence. No one had any issues complying either.

Huffpo..ROFL.

Edit: Regardless of what you believe you are 100% required to have something to verify your address. I would imagine most people present driver's licenses to do this anyways.

And I'm not suggesting there was fraud of any kind. I find it highly improbable. But given in Iowa the party itself establishes all rules relating to the caucus voting procedures I would be quite curious to know why no photo ID would be required given the push for general elections.

Seems a bit hypocritical.

Can't disagree with that. I will say that there were some obvious lefty plants there too. Since you can register to vote the second you register for the caucus, this always happens. Its not really an issue though since there were maybe a dozen that I suspected at a precinct of roughly 400 voters. This would be more concerning to me than fraud especially given the results this year but its the way the law is up here so what can you do.

What's clearly needed is a new anti-voting-fraud law:

Anyone wishing to vote must produce at their voting precinct a certified photograph of each of their registered firearms. Precincts will maintain master lists of the registered firearms of its registered voters, and if any prospective voter fails to provide a certified photograph for any of his/her registered firearms, the individual will be barred from voting.

Oh come on Come on, does it really matter if Romney or Santorium won Iowa in what amounts to a razor thin 8 vote victory.

But come New Hampshire, Romney is predicted to win there 43% to a likely Santorun vote that will barely top 10%. Alas poor Yorick, I knew Rick Santorum well even if I thought he was an over rated turd.

Romney can only win through rigging the ballot box. Now that Dr. Paul has officially been vindicated on the Iranian-American War, he's more electable. The U.S. is now invading Israel FFS.

I attended the Iowa caucus, and was dissapointed at how informal it was. I had my license in hand, but was never asked to show it. For the vote, I was handed a 1x3 in piece of paper, on which I was to write my candidate choice on with the pencil they provided. The votes were collected by handing those 1x3in sheets down the rows we were sitting in, so someone could come up the aisle and collect them.
