Your proof for Florida not proposing establishing a state guard is?And you Progressheviks are always sensationalizing fake news.
You mean like Obama being born in Kenya or gay child molesting pizza shops? And you Progressheviks are always sensationalizing fake news.
DeSantis' has a lot of nerve proposing the exact same force that California, New York, and twenty one other states already have. It's like the guy thinks he's a governor.
So the issue is your belief that these people will become the Gestapo, as stated in the thread title. I assume that this conclusion is based on that happening in one or more other states?Nobody's questioning the legality or even the precedent for such a move. The linked article in the OP should make that clear for anyone without reading comprehension issues.
I'm questioning DeSantis' stated reason for Florida needing such a force (and why now.) Florida gets every dollar they need and then some from FEMA any time there's an emergency declaration. Ron is announcing this new guard without any significant source of funds (and the donors he works for won't let him raise taxes to fund it.) The idea that 200 odd civilians deputized by the state would make a difference in hurricane response (compared to available state and federal resources) seems odd. It would be more believable if he said this guard would be first line of defense against organized crime in Miami, or even against a land invasion by Cuba.
It's almost guaranteed Ron will find some way to leverage this Guard against political enemies.

Here's my issue. You started a thread with a spectacular headline condemning the governor for an act that hasn't been committed. You're condemning him on wishful thinking and using a clickbait headline to get a response.

Congratulations. You've taken the first step, distance gives prospective.#IDon'tCare
Congratulations, you show a continued ability to ignore the authoritarian anti democratic tendencies of the GQP, of which all their leading candidates have to subscribe to, of which desantis is one.Congratulations. You've taken the first step, distance gives prospective.
