The Trump campaign showed how to campaign the fascist way. Its a brand new script and DeSantis is the new star.

A personal Meal Team Six, all kinds of Bubbas getting to live out their tacticool fantasies with probably some vets mixed in. Just think of all the post offices, voting stations and protest locations that could use their 'protection.'

Really reminds me of Putin, but maybe a bit more like his empowering Cossacks as an unofficial paramilitary police.

NY and CA have exactly the same thing already. ROFL. Too bad the hyper-partisan loons that populate this forum are too dumb/lazy/hyper-politicized to spend 5 seconds looking for it on Google before they spout off. You guys are more like the idiot trump/faux news crowd than you care to admit.
googling
isn't hard

as always, you're welcome. It's better to look dumb on an internet forum than in real life, I suppose.

Hey dumbfuck, which one of those states has an imperious, Constitution hating fascist for Governor who already have the blood of tens of thousands on their hands? Wouldn't the hyper partisan be the guy who wanted to restrict school funding based on the political opinions of staff and students? I guess you're a clown too, just like De Santis.

If you cared about laziness you wouldn't be so lazy. Seems to me all you fans of fascism need to articulate to the "loons" is why something like this is needed. What do these 200 volunteers do that FL National Guard can't? People being suspicious over insurrection supporters lusting for more military capability paired with less oversight, and the Jade Helm crowd howls unfair, that's partisan! ROFL indeed. De Santis wants thugs, wake the hell up.

DeSantis' has a lot of nerve proposing the exact same force that California, New York, and twenty one other states already have. It's like the guy thinks he's a governor.

Nobody's questioning the legality or even the precedent for such a move. The linked article in the OP should make that clear for anyone without reading comprehension issues.

I'm questioning DeSantis' stated reason for Florida needing such a force (and why now.) Florida gets every dollar they need and then some from FEMA any time there's an emergency declaration. Ron is announcing this new guard without any significant source of funds (and the donors he works for won't let him raise taxes to fund it.) The idea that 200 odd civilians deputized by the state would make a difference in hurricane response (compared to available state and federal resources) seems odd. It would be more believable if he said this guard would be first line of defense against organized crime in Miami, or even against a land invasion by Cuba.

It's almost guaranteed Ron will find some way to leverage this Guard against political enemies.

So the issue is your belief that these people will become the Gestapo, as stated in the thread title. I assume that this conclusion is based on that happening in one or more other states?

Here's my issue. You started a thread with a spectacular headline condemning the governor for an act that hasn't been committed. You're condemning him on wishful thinking and using a clickbait headline to get a response.

Trump is a wanna be fascist, DeSantis is a wanna be Trump who wants to continue to lead the cult, which is a cult to a fascist, he just has better self control of his mouth. These things are plainly obvious to anyone paying attention.

In other words, see every chyron on Fox News--or any criticism of AOC, Bernie, or socialist Democrats "turning the government Communist".

Given what I've seen from DeSantis attacking his COVID response critics, I'm not giving him the benefit of any doubt.

I understand the effort is massively under funded and is a stunt of sorts..
I dont buy it.. He wants the stand down and stand by crowd to be at his disposal.

Congratulations. You've taken the first step, distance gives prospective.
Congratulations, you show a continued ability to ignore the authoritarian anti democratic tendencies of the GQP, of which all their leading candidates have to subscribe to, of which desantis is one.
