This is now the #1 story on CNN.com, wow! He got little recognition for raising $6 million in a day entirely from small individual contributions, beating or nearly beating the all-day 1 day record set by Hillary. Now some racist allegations and suddenly they want to pay attention....

I support Ron Paul's message but I can't say I buy his explanation any more than I buy Roger Clemen's denial of steroid use

The cynic in me says this could actually give Paul a bump in South Carolina. Die hard Paul supports + racist vote > the 7-8% he's been getting.

Yeah, that's what made me come back to this post. Funny how earlier today it was a blip on CNN, musta got a billion hits, and now it's a HUGE issue. I like Ron Paul, I'd vote for him, but I"m no fanatic by any means.. this is just sad.

I listened to this five minute+ video and frankly, and totally unconvinced at Paul's denial. He claims he didn't write those editorials and doesn't know who did (and won't bother to try to find out). He denies being a racist.

Frankly, Paul's response is hogwash. These comments were published in newsletters under Paul's name and sanctioned by him. It is not a matter of one or two isolated incidents-it is years of racist vitrole. The fact that Ron Paul permitted these things to be repeatedly published under his name-to his probable political benefit-is abhorent.

I don't see how you draw the conclusion that his response shows he is a man of integrity-I draw exactly the opposite conclusion.

The fact is no one around him, in congress, at his home state or in texas has heard Ron Paul verbally say or visually seen say anything remotely close to these letters. You cannot take these letters at face value, you have to research the man. His voting record over the last 20+ years (consistency), married for over 53 years (loyal), returns his salary from congress (honorable), these things together show integrity. NO OTHER candidate has this type of record, NONE. What he speaks he actually practices, unlike ANY OTHER. But somehow, these letters that Ron Paul has vehemently denied knowledge of, you call him a liar? Point out in his lifetime where he has made any racial slur other than these letters and you would have a case. You simply cannot. You must research this mans history, his principles, his honesty, his loyalty, then maybe you can comment on this mans integrity!
