Well, friend has one, and it will not pick up any hair from animals, but like I said, it does keep the cat occupied.
It does a OK job on bigger stuff, like cracker or chip crumbs though.

While the Roomba does have shortcomings, picking up pet hair is not one of them.
One of the things that it excels at is picking up pet hair, so I'm not sure why his friend's doesn't. Mine picks up tons of hair from my two cats.
