Actually it works very well. I use it 95% of the time. It just does not do stairs so I have to do that by hand.

If I carry it in my underarm will it decide that humans are dirty and that we must be killed?

Surprisingly, most cats don't seem to be frightened of Roomba's like they are of regular vacuums. It's probably because they are smaller and less intimidating - and they don't make alot of noise like the big ones.

Either way your better off waiting for the new models to be released. iRobot is releasing the Discovery series in a couple of weeks and the entry level Roomba Red will only be $149.95 retail and it will be much better than this model.

You can read more about the new models at Roomba Review.

Well, friend has one, and it will not pick up any hair from animals, but like I said, it does keep the cat occupied.
It does a OK job on bigger stuff, like cracker or chip crumbs though.

It is advertised to pick up hair. I guess it fails in that category.

While the Roomba does have shortcomings, picking up pet hair is not one of them.

One of the things that it excels at is picking up pet hair, so I'm not sure why his friend's doesn't. Mine picks up tons of hair from my two cats.

That's why I posted this earlier in the topic - There are more models coming out besides the Roomba Discovery listed at newroomba.com - so even those that think that $249 is too much can still get a much better deal if they wait.
