I'm living with a roommate in a 2bedroom apartment. I have the bigger room. It was pretty easy to decide who got the bigger room because he moved in with me after my previous roommate moved out.
We're looking to move to a better conditioned apartment and part of the problem is finding a place that's fair in terms of bedroom size. But it's not easy. I found a place that looks perfect but the problem is it has a larger master bedroom w/ it's own 3/4th bathroom. If we move in there, I thought about giving my roommate the master bedroom only to be fair since I currently have the larger room. But............a part of me still wants the larger room simply because:
1) I furnished everything. My roommate just came in and supplied whatever he needed for himself.
2) Although we split the bills evenly, we don't really have a plan for miscellaneous expenses like toilet paper, paper towels, etc. I usually buy those things myself for the both of us.
3) I have a much bigger bed and more stuff in my bedroom so I don't want to feel cramped in a small sized bedroom.
4) Although we split the bills, I take care of everything such as paying the bills, dealing with manager, calling utilities if a problem arises.
We're friends and I will eventually sit down and discuss it with him. But I want to hear from your guys perspective on what is a fair plan and way to approach it as to not step over anyone's toes.
