My college roommates were cool. Except my junior year. I lived in a triple, but I didn't have a problem with either of my roommates. They both hated each other. To make a long story short, one roomy was trying to get with a girl. The other roomy took her away without him knowing. A couple weeks later, the first roomy finds out. They don't talk to each other for the rest of the year. And I'm there... stuck. It was cool when only one of them was in the room. I would have no problem. But dude, you could feel the tension when both of them were in there. It was horrible. I have no idea how i got through that year.

Needless to say, I was happy to get a single my senior year. Besides that incident, my college roommates have been cool. I was lucky enough to get a roommate i got along with my freshman year. My sophomore year, I roomed with the roomy that stole the girl. He is very easy to room with. Both my freshman and sophomore year roommates stayed up later than me, but i can sleep through anything so i didn't really have much of a problem with them staying up so late.

I did however have this one roommate while i was interning at GM in michigain. He was annoying.

-He did not like me and my other roommate watching the Simpsons, while he insisted on watching court TV.
-He decided to finally make dinner one night...started cooking around 5pm, was still cooking at 11pm, when i finally chose to eat some cereal and go to sleep.
-He would always use my computer and would not get off.
-ALWAYS had an opinion about something.
-Plus more I can't really think of right now.

Anyways, he bugged.

Im going to be a sophmore next year and moving in with the same guy. It just so happens we are both from Hawaii which works out great. He is a really nice guy but really, really got into Counter Strike the last 6 months especially. He eventually stopped going to class and had to drop all his classes and switched majors. We ended up taking all the same classes winter quarter and almost all the same spring quarter. I also introduced him to these boards, so if your reading this, don't be pissed.

It was an okay experience for me

He was a nice kid, quiet and kept to himself.

But he was always in the room, which kind of got annoying, but was okay

The worst part was, that he never washed!
He never showered!

Good lord, I only saw him shower only twice since the four months I've been with him!

Good lord, in the name of all that's sacred!

Man, he wore the exact same clothes everyday too!

Man, I know this because I watched him, and I was in the room most of the time as well, so I know for a fact that he never changed his clothes and never washed but twice!

Good thing that's over, hopefully , my next roommate will be better!

Over and OUT!

My first year at school, I was stuck in a triple with two people that are as polar as u can get. One was your typical college junkie ( he would get drunk ATLEAST three times a week and once i even walked in on him smoking weed). He would drink a 40 ounce bottle of beer once a week and by the end of the year he had quite an impressive collection of empty bottles, some that were named. In addition to booze/drugs he was one of the dirtiest people that i have ever met. Most of his belongings (including his clothes) were spread out on the floor. He stunk up the room constantly with his dirty laundry and other disgusting habits. In addition to the previous problems, he was a pretty big mooch. I remember this one instance when I came back to the dorm from a friends place to discover that he and his friends had finished 2 out of 3 of my pringle packs (they sold them in packs of 3 or 4 at Costco) and the one that he left me was the nasty ass fat-free SH!t :| :disgust: :| He also broke some of my roommates belongings (like his alarm clock and his fan). Furthermore his friends were just as bad or two times as bad as he was :disgust: :| I swear to god that they were clones of this fusk :disgust: Because of his lifestyle my other roommate and I were barely in our room. I would go to upstairs to my friends dorm and he would go downstairs to his friends dorm. Because of this situation we never really got to know each other during our first semester. At the end of the first semester my roommate had a friend who was in a situation that was worse than ours. This kid was stuck with two of my other roommates friends, so we decided that switching with him was probably the best option. I have to say that the second semester of college was the greatest time i have had thus far We would have lots of fun gaming and doing things that friends would do. Any way my suggestion is that if u get stuck with a FUsK like we did, bitch to whoever is in charge. You will get nothing my putting up with trash like that.

my roommate sleeps from like 3-4am to sometime during the day, and never really woke up to his alarm clock. lucky for me, i'm an early person, so i'm awake anyway by then. Sometimes he let it go for over an hour... hehe

1st year:
1st roommate - used to see a shrink, was heavily into drugs. Not someone I enjoyed in particular . . ..
2nd - cool guy, changed rooms foor a favor with . . ..
3rd - quiet guy. Deathly quiet. WOuld go to sleep at noon every day, no sound, no light AT ALL.

2nd year:

Had a single

3rd year:
Apartment, roomed with 2nd 1st year roommate, another guy from our floor, and another guy I didn't know about - actually the first two I mentioned was fine - but the last guys was scum and a half - didn't clean at all, used up all our dishes/silverware (he brought none, naturally), threw parties at our place without telling any of us, and almost got us evicted (instead, he landed us with a $500 ticket). Gave me ulcers that year.:|

4th year (now, moved in for the summer):
One guy is kind of a doofus, seems like a nice guy though - but is really superficial (won't eat vegetables or fruit - won't even eat supreme pizza) = other guy, one of my closest friends on campus, met him in Judo, don't see a problem . . . third roommate hasn't moved in yet, but I think he'll be fine. I hope this will be a good year in roommates. I really hope so. And I wish you luck as well.

Don't be freaked out. Most roomates aren't like this. These are just the wierdos. Most people want to get along. You'll do fine. BTW what school?

Are u guys talking about roommates in the sense of the word? Or do u mean 2 ppl sharing a flat? Because I can not imagine that a grown up could stand it fo extended periods of time to share one room with another person (of same sex for that matter). I know I wouldnt.
Why dont u get your own room or if that is too expensive go live in a shared flat - thats fun (if u choose the right one) and u still have your privacy...

My roommates have been cool after freshman year. I went to an out of state school, and I didn't know anybody [I liked] going there who was the same gender as myself, and I wasn't about to get an apartment and miss out on the social life of college.

So anyways, take it the first year (you'll probably get lucky and get a good roommate) and then pick and choose every year from then on.

Also, guys don't typically have problems with their roommates, only girls. Based on the nick and the icon, you're a guy with a goatee and brown hair, so you should be cool. Just hope you don't get a roommate that likes to do his girlfriend in your bed. LOL

I lived by myself in an apartment for my entire collegiate life.

I have also never had roomates. It seemed like a big hassle to me.

My freshman roomate was pretty decent, until around mid-semester when he developed the habit of coming back to the room every morning at 2am (bar closing time) roaring drunk with his buddy from down the hall. They'd crank up Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album.

Thats a great album, believe me. Until you've heard it EVERY night at 2am LOUD for 3 months.

I'd ask him to quit it, shut up, I even tried to disable his stereo - he was useless to argue with when drunk (he'd just giggle and ignore me) and would apologize profusely when sober and swear to never do it again.

That promise would last until 2am the next morning, natch.

I moved out with a month to go when my older brother got a 2 bedroom apt nearby. I roomed with my brother for the next 2years, then had the apt alone when he graduated. Rooming with an older brother is cool in that its family, but he was a bit of a control-freak and tried to run my life too much.

There was also one semester in Europe where I roomed with a friend. It killed our friendship when I discovered he was a roaring alchoholic who loved to pass out nude in my bed when I was out.

Nothing like dragging a drunken, nude scotsman out of your bed and back into his - changing your sheets, and going to bed only to repeat the next day. He'd stay alone in our room and just drink - scary dude. Couldn't get him to come out as he seemed to loose all social skills that year...
He became jealous of me (I think) and spent the next couple years trying to break into my apt and doing bizarre stuff like coating my car door handles in silicone gel sealant (he worked part-time maintenance).

Eventually he knocked up some chick and had bigger problems to deal with, and left me alone.

Had problems with my first roomates but it really wasn't too bad. I now live with my friends and it's been very smooth for the past two years. I live an apartment with my own room so that might be a huge difference to living in the same room.
