History.

Orwell pretty much nailed it. “Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.”

Have fun in 30 years.

See the difference is we are actually looking at all of your generations mistakes.

If we ignore the mistakes of the past...

You can learn from the mistakes of the past without shitting on an entire generation with generalizations.

The greatest generation in the US was the same generation as the Nazi generation in Germany.

The greatest generation in the US was also the same generation that rounded up loyal Americans of Japanese descent and threw them in camps.

No generation is without its flaws, or victories. Because one thing never changes from generation to generation: The human condition. You know what else is unchanged? Shitting on the previous, and subsequent generations while idealizing the generation once removed. We tend to blame the previous generation for all the world's ills and slander the newest generation for their naivety/laziness/whatever. Meanwhile we pick a generation from history and idealize it while forgetting all of its flaws.

Excuse us for not being a perfect generation. I'm sure that the younger generations will bring about a time of happiness and plenty for all.

Ooops, well maybe not *all* the young'uns.

You are literally using whataboutism when someone talks about boomers.

As I said. I am blaming boomers for very specific things that are very unique to that generation.

As I said, have fun in 30 years. Maybe you'll understand the Orwell quote by then.

Things are a lot different. The life that the baby boomers got to live is the life no other human generation got to live on this planet in all of history.

He's not asking you to ignore it. He's asking you to stop pointing fingers... It's pointless. Fix it. Just like the generation after you will fix your mistakes.

Not sure why you need to call it the greatest generation. Amazing things have come in to play with the generations following. Isn't it smarter to give credit and blame in equal measure? I don't believe a "great" generation has existed but most generations if not all of them have contributed in great ways with great advancements.

If you think history is going to paint that generation in a good light you are really not following along. Im not blaming any individual person. I'm not pointing fingers.

Look, I'm not a fan of the politics of many of the baby boomers but this forum here proves that not all baby boomers are the same.

You're making sweeping comments and that's a small way to think of things. Of course the baby boomers ushered in some wonderful things. You can try to deny it but you'll be lying to yourself. Millennials have already shown that they're not likely going to have all the answers either and that they will make mistakes as well. I am however hopeful that the progress they make will be more directed toward humanity and environment rather than the all mighty buck and controlling human rights with some purely backward kind of thinking.

There you go. And when talking about a generation you need to speak in generalities. Its literally in the name.

im sorry you are offended that I don't think your generation was a good one but telling me to read a history book in regards to my statement doesn't refute it.

But you might learn something. I'd suggest after the history you move on to human and economic geography and then toss in a touch of sociology combined with a bit of social psyc and then see where it might lead from there. But really, the history is the main part.

But you can choose not to. That's within you.

What? You think it shouldnt be talked about? Why? Because some people will be offended? That doesnt matter. What matters is not repeating the horrible mistakes of the boomer generation.
