If dignity is being defined here as only a social construct, then I can see why there is disagreement. If there is no recognition here that there is something at our core that can remain inviolable, then that's a philosophical argument that I'm not prepared to have now. It's a tough subject for me personally; I despise the premise that our sole worth is only that which society bestows.
@jackstar7 , I'm talking about grown adults with a developed sense of self here, of course kids (and other defenseless people) need more protection than adults. If it's true that I made it sound like you say, then I ought to apologize, but I'm not convinced that most reasonable people with benign intent would think so.
