I am a conservative and most of the conservatives I know support the firing of Barr. What you attribute as hypocrisy is the outsized voice given to fringe elements empowered by social media and Trump.

I also sense some hypocrisy in the forgiveness extended to the liberal members of the cast. They knew exactly who Barr is and chose to join the revival to capture that oh so lucrative Trump controversy in a sitcom bottle. They normalized her by giving her another show and now they lament getting burned because she predictably kamikazed into the racist sun.

No, you don't get it. There is a difference between saying things that you otherwise wouldn't have said to someone (the action--which is what ambien can influence), and the actual content of what you say, which ambien can not influence. Consider it a truth serum.

Assuming that we take her dosing excuse on her word, ambien didn't make her racist, it just removed her public filter in order to unleash her racism. Please don't pretend to be confused by this obvious difference.

It is true that Twitter seems to be a mechanism to allow celebrities and (minor) politicians to destroy themselves.

In some instances I do I feel it's just someone typing into a keyboard what they would previously have just shouted at the TV and doesn't merit a huge storm.

But I don't feel much sympathy in cases like this. Even if there were misused substances involved, what comes out when under-the-influence is still something that was in there in the first place. Whether it's racist bile or literal bile (mixed with undigested kebab)..

I appreciate your optimism, but don't share it. After McCain lost the election because he refused to call a black Christian man a Muslim terrorist just because he was black, and a real conservative lost just because he was Mormon, the Republicans learned that pandering to racists and bigots was the only way to win elections.
Now, Roseanne and Trump are the mainstream GOP. While 'real' conservatives are the fringe element.
