From what I read in the forums, Rosewill is "hit or miss." So, any thoughts on this power supply? I am considering this supply because it is going with a combo deal at newegg.com with what seems to be a nice case. And I just inspected the same case in a local store. I like to buy locally, but this case and the only 450+ ANTEC 550 they sell there is $70 more than this deal (with a Rosewill psu instead)

Rosewill RG530-2 530W 80Plus Bronze Certified

The combo deal: 1. Rosewill RG530-2: $59.99 2. Antec Three Hundred: $59.95 Combo Discount: -$20.00 Combo Price: $99.94

I've been eyeing this combo also as I want the Antec 300, but I don't have a good feeling about the Rosewill PSU so I'm thinking I probably won't get it at this point. Will make a final decision in the next week or so, but I'll probably get a more reliable PSU.

You don't see a lot of 80 Plus rated PSUs that are total junk. Used to be you could tell something about quality from the TUV cert, but there have been cases of that being falsified too.

I tried to look up the Rosewill from the RU/UL file number but the cert. was done by ABS so that didn't get me anywhere in figuring out who makes it. The Egg was started as a subsidiary of ABS to get their parts cost down, now the ABS division is much smaller than the Egg division But it looks vaguely like some of the Fortron/Sparkle 80 Plus units. ATNG/Coolmax used to do a lot of the Rosewill PSUs but they don't look much like that.

If anyone knows who makes the thing, please fill us in.

Rosewill is a newegg house brand. My bet is on ATNG/I Horng...merely based on the heatsink(which also looks like ones Acbel and some others use) and the fact that many of Rosewill's PSUs are made by ATNG

I have a Rosewill 500 2.1 and I just read a atrical about a double labeled PSU that was junk..

Reading a link to [ H ] review I read that the company that made the Extreme psu I think it was WinTec if I remember correctly also makes Rosewill or some of Rosewill's

So I am kind of worried

I did think they sell them with cases they also sell so I bet they dont want a lot of returns as they might sell more than just a PSU seller..

I was just looking at a 650w EnergyMax for $60? at newegg
Seems EnergyMax does well in these SLI test
http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html

I just cant believe the power they want for these card..
Its like everyone just needs a 1000w and a good one at that.....

I think its time for a dual PSU case as SLI site is just ober the top IMHO

The PSU is a 525
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817194035
for $70 with $65 rebate you would have to wait for

I was going by the location of the power switch and the layout of the label. Neither of the Coolmax, 80 Plus labeled units have the switch below/above (they are both toward the middle from the power cord) the power cord connection and the label layout looks more FSP Group than Coolmax. But would still like to know.

@rarebear
Wintech is out of business...

The only FSP unit in that power range is the Epsilon and their labels usually don't show a combination of the 12V rails

I think it looks a lot like this PSU
Although it could be a non-modular one of these

Also many Coolmax units are made by Sirtec now.

Hi HOOfan 1,

Here is the artical I read
http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/...w5LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

Read the bottom line.......

Somewhere they said WinTec made Rosewill at one time...

After reading the SLI site I am blown away at the power the new GPUs must have...
Goes completely againist what I figuered I might need from this site
http://web.aanet.com.au/SnooP/psucalc.php

I was hopping to at a 2x 4830 GPU to my setup but I am having second thoughts after reading the SLI site..

Can anyone comment if I could???
I am sorry if I am hi jacking the threads my appoligies if needed..

Thanks

Rarebear, relax, you're getting all worked up for nothing. Because there's so many junk psus out there, they inflate the wattage requirements for sli to account for psus that vastly overrate their wattage capabilities.

Get a quality midrange psu and you're fine for sli/xfire. Especially dual 4830s, you don't need a big honkin' psu. 550W of decent power will do you fine, such as the bfg ls550 that just won the gold editors choice medal from AT.

Wintech may have made Rosewill models in the past....but they don't now, as I said WINTECH IS OUT OF BUSINESS, the RG530 is not made by Wintech...that is what this thread is about.

As for your problem, no I wouldn't try to run 2X4830's on your 500W PSU....then again that is crossfire and not SLi, although the power requirements are similar. However, nVidia also exagerates how much power you need to run Sli...and ATI exagerates how much you need to run Crossfire. Whether your Rosewill is made by Wintech or not, we can't tell if we don't know the exact model.

Trust me I am not worked up...

I just want the OP get a good PSU..

I thought I did some homework before I bought mine reading the Asus and MSI MoBo manuals as to what power they said I needed 400-500w ...

I then read to run 2x GTX 295s I need a 1200w PSU
Which I will not be doing anytime soon but maybe in a few years..
500w in a few years might be looked at as I did my 300w I bought a few years ago, way to small for a gaming system...

If I had to buy another PSU I might be using in a few years I would go +600w as its clear nVidia thinks 600w just par for For Dual GeForce 7900 GTX or Dual GeForce 7800 GTX 512 MB*
