I beat ME1. GOOOO Me.

And needed a break from that niche.... ME1 was GAMING GOODNESS.
If you look at my prior thread I bought 3 used games for New Years Day. My second adventure..... FF 13....

O
M
G

Huge change. I am 4 hours into it and still gettting tutorials? HUH?
Will the game open up? Right now it is in RAILS. My map, is a corridor with one small offshoot to get a orb treasure. Whoopie...

Not giving up. Even though NOW I see the bad reviews about how they supposedly deviated. "Its not what it was... 9 was better. No 7 was better........ Etc etc... "
Not giving up. repeat NOT giving up.

Just I need you folks to give me the heads up.

AND, what is wrong with the developers???????? Why is Vanillie (Spelling?) the most flirty toon in the game.
I feel SOOOOOOOO wrong after a session.
Even where her Le Cei" tat is.

Snow, Lightning, Hope etc... the tat is in OK or NORMAL place...
The over-developed 14 year old?
Geee (Giggle) here's mine.... (Insert skirt hike here)

WHATS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE???????

Anyway, give me tips, advice, pointers. You all helped me with ME1. I hope you can do the same here.

Why did you feel the need to start yet another thread on FF13? go search and post in the ones already created.

Tried to finish the game for the story, but during the tower after Gran Pulse, I just put down the game and said screw it, the game sucks too much to finish it.

It has been the only time in my life in which I just didn't finish a game.

The ENTIRE game is on rails from start to finish (Yes, including Gran Pulse). I sunk 60 hours into that crappy ass game, but over the course of 2 months. If I had to do it all over again, I'd just replay Mass Effect... twice.

Why did you feel the need to come in and just crap on a persons banter?
Its a free country, I can post, and you can reply. OR NOT. But you feel a need to show your superiority and put down another, who breaks your rules.

OH WAIT.... You must be the forum police.. I get it now.
For your information, I did a search, and "Final Fantasy 13" to be exact. Spent about 6 minutes scanning the dozens of threads. Really didnt find anything pointing directly to my set-up. So I posted...I know officer, I am SURE that doesnt meet your standards....

But, you sir, have done your job. As the forum police, I applaud you.
Take your satisfaction and sleep well tonight knowing that you have made the internet that much safer.
And for that, we all salute and thank you.

To the rest of you. Thank you for your replies.

Your "set-up"? lol. All you are doing is asking about FF13...which can go in any of the other FF13 threads. Don't think you are so special.

To be fair, it's not the end of the world to have a new thread that will eventually end up on the back pages. To the OP, you can try to stick it out, but it just stays the same with a very weak story (IMO) trying to develop. I wouldn't waste my time.

Man, I've tried to restarting this game 3 times now and I just run out of gas around the 2-3 hour mark.

I'm very interested in the gameplay, but I just have a difficult time getting past the inane dialog, strange voice acting and the contrived narrative. I mean, some of those characters are really annoying to listen to. I know some of you just love this game--and I want to too--but I just dont know if I can do it.

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see how things go for you.

I'm not special. Never said I was. You played that... You presumed that. You said it.
If you dont answer, I am not hurt... If you answer, I have always been appreciative of help.
It (My post) is here for both helpful replies or replies like yours "I am the forum police replies"... Really... I guess that is helpful because it fills those little voids in your life that you felt the NEED to reply...

The beuatiful thing about a free world... Isnt it?

Sleep well Officer... Sleep well.
You sir, have EARNED your pay today.
The world, is so much better. I actually felt a shift in the basic karma and its because of you...

However officer, be aware, I will continue to post what and where I like... So you will be busy, oh keeper of the internet.
Fill the voids in your life following me and making sure I comform to your rules/opinions and posting as such.

And the world, will be a better place.

No problem. I tried to stick it out, but there are too many good games to be stuck playing a game I didn't like for that many hours. Especially since I don't get to play as much as I used to.

I'm playing through FF XIII right now. It gets much better once you get the ability to change Paradigms (I'm not even going to try to explain what those are). You also get to upgrade your equipment and weapons, which requires a lot of grinding.

Once you get to Gran Pulse's open areas, the game feels much more like a traditional RPG.

IMO, Square really screwed up the timing in the game. I felt like I was on rails and hitting "X" for the first 10 hours. I understand that game devs don't want to throw tons of complicated actions and options at the player all at once, but this game is stupidly slow to develop.

I wanna shoot whomever did the artwork for Vanille's walking.

If it makes you feel any better, OP, (SPOILER WARNING)
Vanille isn't quite as young as she looks...sort of.

I haven't really given most of these newer FF games a chance. I liked all of the older ones but once they got on ps2... meh.

I'd suggest jumping into ME2. I just played through ME1 & ME2 and both were awesome.

yea the game is on rails the whole time, but it depends on what you like in a game. That is -- that really isn't an issue if you like RPGs for their stories rather than the sidequests. personally, i always found grinding and doing stupid fetch and get cash quests boring and pointless. so even in the "open ended" rpgs i ended up on rails.

point being -- it's all about perspective and what you want from the game

I can see why this game is 3 CD's.... Its not content.... ITS CUT SCENES.

I actually belly laughed at several segments of your reply. I do feel a bit better. Thank you.

The upgrade thing? WHEN?
I have paradigms. And they aint complicated. I love'em. I make customs and make Hope or Vanille a pure Medic in one of them. So far.... Battles are a breeze.
I thought "upgrade" thing would be avail at the save stations as I read on the internet.
I saved this AM and no such option appeared. I am worried to sell stuff lol...

I enjoy this style of game, its a good mixture to have the linear storyline in a game every so often.

Get past the first 5-6 hours of pushing "X" and you slowly get introduced to the full glory/complexity of the battle system and the story becomes a bit more intriguing as well.

You never really get to travel the open world (from city to city), you get a bit of open world in Gran Pulse, but thats pretty limited as well.

You can upgrade at any time (i think) once you get the materials for it, some of which are very hard to come by.

I say stick with it, I thoroughly enjoyed the game despite its flaws.

Be upset, frustrated, whatever emotion you want... get a raging hard-on full of lust - I dont care.

I'm just offering my view of the game, it starts slow, but once you're introduced to the full combat system, its possibilities and the story line it created a very engaging game (for me anyway).
