Rounded IDE

I have a rounded cable in both my cdrom/cdrw and my bufferunderun is now giving me errors and it's slower than before...but with the normal IDE it never gave an error or anything. It's an 18" dual device ATA 100/133 from www.so-trickcomputers.com...are these bad for dual device or something? I changed my setup to cdrw - master HDD and cdrom - sec. HDD...the buffer lowers a little still but near the end of teh burn and my speeds are increased(still not as good as before).

IMHO, change back to whatever cables you were using before.

Yeah, I agree. Perhaps your rounded cables are bad. If you really wanted rounded cables, exchange them, or try a different brand.

I've got to agree, the cables could be bad like any regular ribbon cable. I would either switch back to the ribbon cable or get some quality rounded cables like from Coolermaster or Vantec.

Try to get the ones that use twisted pair; that's supposed to eliminate the risk of crosstalk from having the wires simply bundled together.

you may have bad cables , try emailing robert =owner of so-trick , i'am sure he will exchange your cables out.

i have bought a lot from so-trickcomputers and have had nothing but great service!

Sounds like a bad cable to me....I'd ask them to exchange it.

one problem though, I didn't buy the cable I won them at a local LAN that so-trick sponsors...I don't know if he would exchange those out, ya think? I'll give it a try though.

The siver mesh and copper mesh cables are of very good quality here. I have had no toubles with these and using two devices on one cable.
