Router configuration HELP!

Please help Me!
I got AT&T cable service and running home network with the HUB currently. With people recommendation, I bought 1 port router Linksys and have problem with configuration. At first I tried to hook up cable modem to router and directly to computer (no sharing yet). It's working really good and faster than the HUB I believe. Then I tried to hook up to the HUB (cable modem to WAN, LAN to HUB and HUB to computer, I also play around with the switch X/II and uplink port) but it's not working. I disable the ICSharing and add DNS number, still came out the dead web when I type "http://192.168.1.1". What should I do to get over it, Please help me.

Why would you need ICS ?
Router does it for you. Check your cabling.
Wan-cable modem-router-hub-computers. check for correct cable (what ever manual says, crossover or normal from uplink).
Enable DHCP on Linksys, and on your computers,ping and post here what's going on.
check the lights on hub/router/NICs

When you connected the Router to a single computer, it worked.

Leave every thing the way it worked in the direct connection. Disconnect the other computers from the hub, and do Router, Hub Uplink, Single computer.

Doing so you inserted only the Hub as an additional component to the Router?s connection that worked before. If it does not work it means that you are using the wrong type of cable (Straight or Crossover) between the Router and the Hub.

The cable that worked between the Router and the computer has to go into Uplink when it goes to the hub. If you don?t have an Uplink on the Hub, you have to invert the type of the cable, and connect it to a regular Hub port.

CAT5 Straight, Crossover. What is CAT5, which one should I Use?

If it worked with the Hub and a single computer. However it stopped working when you add the rest of the computers to the hub, you have a DHCP IP mismatch, and you have to go over the setting and make sure that they are set correctly.

I did check all the cable and lights are corrected. It's working fine when I connected CABLE MODEM/ROUTER and COMPUTER directly. Somehow, it doesn't work if I'm add the HUB with the same setup.

It's working when I connect:
Cable Modem to 1st NIC, 2nd NIC to HUB, HUB to 2 different computers.

It's also working when I connect:
Cable Modem to WAN router, LAN router to 1st NIC of computer.

It's NOT working when I connect:
Cable Modem to WAN router, LAN router to HUB(uplink port), HUB to 1st NIC of computer. Using regular CAT-5 not crossover and set the switch to X (crossover) of the router.

Or: Cable Modem to WAN router, LAN router to HUB(port #2,3,4 or 5), HUB(port #2,3,4 or 5) to 1st NIC of computer. Using regular CAT-5 not crossover and set the switch to II (straight) of the router.

I kept all the same setup, only switching cables, router and hub around.

I don't know that much but I thought the crossover was used to got into a Port (#1,#2.#3, etc.) and not used when going into the uplink port. Correct me If I am wrong???

Set it up like this.
1. Cable Modem-to-WAN,
2. LAN-to-HUB (straight through cable on standard port, not uplink)
3. All computers should have only 1 NIC connected to the hub and should be configure for DHCP.

Or
1. Cable Modem-to-WAN.
2. LAN-to-HUB (crossover cable connected to uplink)
3. All computers should have only 1 NIC connected to the hub and should be configured for DHCP.

Also, you didn't say what mfg. your hub is, but on my linksys, if you use the uplink port, the port next to it is autmatically disabled. Why, I have no idea, but it is in the documentation.

That is true. Uplink and port 1 on linksys switches share the same wiring.
