Router questions and what is this hardware?

Hello friends,

Thank you for your continued help. I am trying to upgrade my wi-fi setup at home, and also want to understand how the cameras are connected in my home, as the person who connected them is MIA.

A) I found this in the attic in the garage, I think the IP cameras which are outside the garage, connect to this through the white wires and then the green wire goes to the NVR or the ISP router I need to check

What is it? Can I add another compatible camera just by running a Cat 5 wire from the camera to one of the ports at the back of this device?

If so, I can place a camera in the garage

B) I bought this at Walmart a week ago, so I can still return it. The ISP technician at my parents house said that they should get another router, preferably an AC one?

Right now the load on the ISP provided router is like 90% because the cameras are connected to an NVR and then the NVR is connected to the ISP router.

Is this any good? or should I go for this one as it is on sale for $130

Yeah you can just add another poe camera.

Return that EA2700. The 8500 should be fine.

Any recommendations for an Asus router? I heard they are good.

I don't mind spending in the ~$200 range which seems to be the sweet spot

depends on your clients as well, not just the router. So if your client can only do 300Mbps, getting the most expensive 802.11ac router is not going to help you.

Oh ok, I just use laptop, ipad, and 2 mobile phones for browsing and some music streaming and you tube videos

but I do not mind spending a bit more and getting ready for the future
