Here is a question for those of you with FiOS:
I have the standard router which you have to use to connect to FiOS and for the TV's to work. The interface is very dated and limited. You cannot turn off DHCP. The wired network is 10/100 only. I have a gigabit switch on my network, but I assume data transfers are only as fast as the main router can process. Parental controls are not that useful and you cannot add storage directly to the router. I do have an access point attached to the network for faster WiFi.
Verizon does offer an "advanced" router which has faster WiFi and gigabit wired networking, but the interface is the same, no USB storage and same parental controls.
So, can I easily add a second router to the current router, keep DHCP on, and configure the IP addresses differently like 10.0.0.1 instead of the Verizon default 192.168.0.1?
Secondly, if I get a router that features USB storage with network access and outside access, how should I configure port forwarding on the Verizon Router?
What routers do you recommend if you think this would work? I saw a good review on the expensive Asus RT-AC68U
