I am having troubles setting up shares on our network and I think it is because of the way the routers are configured.
Here is a simple diagram
Group A cannot see the shares or LAN games in Group C, bur can with Group B. Both routers are set up for DHCP, which is not a good idea, right? Also, is it hooked up correct as far as using the uplink on the router for group A and B?
UPDATE: Thanks for all the help so far, but it is time to change the network yet again, and am trying to figure out the best way to do this.
We have been using very poor and expensive radio broadband which is fairly common in such a rural area. The situation is kind of complicated, but we are essentially locked into a contract with this terrible service for 3 more years. DSL has become available here and offers much more for much less, especially since we are about 1 mile from the recently upgraded CO.
Anyhow, to refer to my diagram again which has been updated on where the DSL modem is planned to go, I have a couple ideas.
The one computer in Group C is mine (which is actually separated by a 200 ft ethernet cable from the other computer in group C), and I will be kicking in for the DSL payment so I want to figure the best way to route it to my trailer.
I figured I would disconnect my computer from the router and just put a switch on top of it and move the wire from B<->C router to the switch.
That of course would leave only one client on the radio internet, but he is the only one that pays for it, so maybe that is the best way.
