Well hopefully that's grabbed some attention!

Incase you've missed it there's a short 2 week race & its TA vs the rest of the world!:Q............................well ok not quite all of the rest of the world ,but nonetheless our honour is at stake!

The project is SETI ,& remembering that this is just a short race it'd be great to have some people switch over for that brief period ,& it would be good to see old timers join in as well as newer members ,even just 1 rig ,or even 1 core!

Btw this is not meant to be any permanent cannibilising of TA teams from other projects.Just a short stint for a bit of fun & hopefully prestige (we're a long way from being No 1atm though).

Oh ,if it helps anyone to join in I will run my PC for them afterwards to catch up lost time on there project.Unfortunatly I only have my main rig to offer for the CPU trade ,but it's an Intel C2D @3.2GHz so it isn't bad (& for any folders I have a X1950 Pro too).
(Anyone else willing to offer a post race CPU trade?)

Cut off date Oct 28th.

Race details can be found here
If you want to join up ,then by all means let us know here but it is crucial that you sign up in the above linked thread.

I guess that sandbagging WUs is against the rules?

Like "a rule" has stopped it in the past!

Yea sandbagging is against the rules
Naughty mod!:Q

Though our race team is growing nicely now
pre-race stats are showing we are being heavily outgunned atm by our old rivals DPC & S@NL amongst others.Currently we are 8th out of 14 teams on RAC.

More! more! ,more!

Some of us are waiting until the race actually starts before unleashing the hounds. Though I accidentally let a few escape today, I'm holding the leash pretty tight.

Got me a new Q6600 but the memory won't arrive until tomorrow ... doesn't seem to like the flavor I have on hand.

Took down a perfectly good Pentium D 2.8GHz system (upgrading). Hate down time. :|

Even with the brakes on I've managed to gain 118,961 positions in SETI the last week. Amusing...

Well, I've robbed "Peter" to pay "Paul".

Swapped memory sticks around until I found a pair that the new Q6600 likes. Doing a quick backup before I start stretching it a little.

So the race is on at 0000 UTC?

Go TeAm!

Maybe mis-read something, but isn't it 1 week "pre-race" 1st., while the "real" race starts 5. November?

More like "didn't read anything".

I've been busy recruiting and building.

So I guess the next week is sort of like "time trials" at the Indy 500 ... determines the running order or in this case the makeup of the actual teams?

Hey great to see ya! ,it's been a while I think?
What rigs have you got these days?

Smoke
Nice upgrade ,a mate of mine has loaned me his Q6600 he just bought! ,the mbrd he was sold with it apparently doesn't support quads! ,so until he sorts that out in a few weeks I get to play with it
Will be interesting to see what I can o/c to on my MSI 650 mbrd.

It does beat the P4 in the BOINC benchmarks but it wasn't beating it in climate prediction (probably memory bandwidth?) climate prediction work units grow to around 800mb over time and i actually cut off that box mid unit because it was going nowhere. Its a PIII - S (512K cache)

PIII was always better than Netburst it just took intel a few beatings from AMD to realize it

lol ,yea ,though having said that the Northwood core was a good one ,it certainly gave the XP a good run for its money.I recall the XP3200 could only match the P4 2.8GHz ,but then the Ath64 turned up.
