If you're running a 64-bit operating system, make sure to get the 64-bit versions, they are significantly faster.
Well, going against the excellent recommendation of Smoke of not "tear engine appart during the middle of a race", have been fooling-around with Crunch3r's optimized seti-applications.

All Windows, Crunch3r-v2.4-non-graphics-clients:
#1, Old Amd, 32-bit-SSE. Haven't got the exact same angle-range, but from close neightbours to 0.409xxx indicates 5%-10% increase.
#2. Opteron, 64-bit-SSE2. On AR = 0.392899, 25% increase.

Hmm, you indicated 15-20% increase in production, so this seems to be better than expected, doesn't it? ...

... Except, the times isn't a 25% increase in production. Instead it's a 25% increase in CPU-TIME.

Meaning, atleast on my Amd-computers, the official SETI@home-application is faster than the so-called "optimized" ones.

that's crazy! I have 2 x2 amd cpus running at 2.4 and 2.43 that I recently upgraded to the crunch3r v2.4 non-graphics (this is the same client as the one listed at lunatics.at btw). The best RAC I EVER got on them before was 700. I'm now up to almost 900 on one and the other is climbing fast ( that's the one that I had to reinstall the OS on the other day). My overall team RAC has risen dramatically from 3700-3800 avg to 4750 now, although that also includes the great result from the ssse3 optimized client on my e6750.

Actually, I'm not the 1st. one that has got mediocre performance with the 64-bit application on Amd, if you dig through the SETI@home-forums you'll see some posts that indicates it's faster on some AR, but slower or no noticeable difference on majority of wu's.

Just brought up an E6700 that was down for a few weeks.

Hoping to hit 19,000 RAC in three days.

I missed the 64 bit reference. I'm running xp pro 32 bit on those two computers. In fact, I have xp pro on all my rigs except the e6750 and the xp2400+ (xp home on those). Maybe you could try using the 32 bit optimizer?

@KEELEYSAM: nice!

Dang, when I got up this morning I found my fastest system (doing around 4,000 @ day) hung up on the reboot splash screen. It seems overnight MS did an update that required rebooting and my Q6600 system didn't quite make it. Not sure how many hours it was down but ... well, dang it anyway. :|

I've been terrible. Sorry guys, I just can't seem to grab more then a handful of WUs every other day. I was a much bigger player in the last Seti Classic race we had.
