This is actually only my FIRST RRoD error, the other issues were all related to the DVD drive, or UPS dropping my 360. I guess its better now that in a month from now, but I was under the assumption that my 360 was fixed due to the fact I sent mine in last time, soon after they identified the issue.

Ugh.

Just got off the phone with them, I wanted to make sure they knew how many times I've had issues. They're going to overnight a box to me, the shipping on the prepaid box will also have overnight prepaid back to them, then when they fix/replace, it'll be overnighted back to me. They estimate 2 weeks... which is just fine, but still annoying.

Hopefully, I'll get an HDMI 360 back instead.

Now that's odd. I've never heard them request a power brick back. Keep your fingers crossed that you get a 173 watt power brick in return.

yeah but with all overnight shipping that means theyll have it for like a week and a half. i doubt it takes them that long to fix it, so they probably have a large waiting list.

It's mind boggling to me how Xbox owners downplay this problem, it's sad to see actually in consumer's perspective. I just wonder what will happen after 3 years if you hadn't bought at a place like Costco like mugs.

Good luck with the replacement. My Elite is still going strong 11 months after purchase, but it'll be a sad day if it ever goes.

Time to dust off the Wii.

My original 360 died on Christmas Day, then I had to wait a month to play my new games. It was brutal.

I almost bought a PS3 during that time. Almost.

Well, i've been there and done that. Shortly after replacing my first 360 that RROD my elite had the same problem. I then switched to the PS3 and went without mechanical problems for the duration. However, i realized during that time that since i didn't have a ps2 or the associated games that my gaming inventory was severely diminshed when compared with the 360. Another small issue was that i preferred the 360 controller much more than the ps3 one. Achievements though trivial are fun to keep up with. Also, i could care less about blue-ray or hd-dvd. But, when my soon to be 8 year old daughter asked me if we could get the 360 back it sealed the deal.

Too bad for my sake they couldn't combine the reliability of the PS3 my above listed likings for the 360. I'm willing to take the gamble on reliability knowing that we're enjoying it a little more than we did the ps3. Either way, its 2 great systems and i'm just glad to have the options.

Unless they've changed something in the past two weeks, probably not. I just sent my launch console in, and got a non-HDMI 360 back. It sucks, but I can empathize with the worries about fraud.

5th replacement? Man, I feel for you. I have heard about all of the 360 issues, but I still don't know one person outside of the internet who has had to replace one yet. I think MS has it out for you.

Dang... Makes me feel bad that I haven't had time to fire up my PS3 for over 2 weeks now. That one year warranty (already used once) is just slipping away...

I really wasn't attempting to downplay the issue. Really, saying that I'm only on my second 360 (after less than a year) just illustrates how bad the problem is. I'd never say I'm only on my second one if I'm referring to a product that I expect to last a long time. Microsoft screwed up in a major way, I have no qualms about admitting that. It kept me from buying a 360 for a year and a half.

And yeah, I'd be worrying about that 3 year time limit myself if I hadn't bought it at Costco. I had a friend who was too impatient to wait for Costco to get more in stock, and I told him he should wait and get it at Costco even though it was after they had announced the 3 year extension.

what's the deal with buying it at costco? Mine was just received at the repair center. How long a wait is it from there? I'm going to get myself an elite at costco if it's just a walk in and exchange for a new one policy.

Yep. I bought my Elite when they were first released and it's been going strong ever since.
