what's the deal with buying it at costco? Mine was just received at the repair center. How long a wait is it from there? I'm going to get myself an elite at costco if it's just a walk in and exchange for a new one policy.
That it is

would go in and return for a core2 duo

they changed the computer policy from eternity for computers(I tbelive it was 1 year) to 3 months for Pcs awhile ago.
last year they changed that some things are now only 3 months also. Tvs. cameras, ipods. But not game consoles and such. Even if they change it eventually. You're grandfathered with old return policy.

Hah.. good luck with that one. Got my 3rd unit back 2 weeks ago and it's a Zephyr unit with a larger heat sink I believe. I also heard they're making falcon motherboards minus the HDMI port as well - which is something you might get if you sent in your power supply.

I wouldnt mind that, actually I may prefer that. HDMI is not a requirement at this point. I'm using VGA + Optical for my setup. If I were to go HDMI, I'd have to find another way of getting audio to my receiver (that does not support HDMI)

You can get audio through optical even if you have an HDMI-equipped 360.

5th replacement? Man, I feel for you. I have heard about all of the 360 issues, but I still don't know one person outside of the internet who has had to replace one yet. I think MS has it out for you.
Jinx!

Don't you need some adapter to get optical out?

Nope.
There's a fixable problem involving the 360 resetting every time you change inputs on the TV while leaving the 360 on (i.e., you pause the game and you switch from the 360 to cable tv and then switch back). You have to cut a wire. You can read about that here.

So your answer is actually yes, not nope. You're showing a hack to make your own adapter... I'd rather not deal with that.

I had to call them today because i got an email last night saying they never got my console even though i called them yesterday morning and they said they received it and everything was fine and still processing.
Anyway, got an actual person who seemed to care and she gave me her direct phone number and extension to call back.
She assumed my case ( my 3rd rrod ) and said she would handle it personally so i'm taking a wait and see attitude.
I did have to send in my psu so i'm hoping i get a newer model, but could care less about hdmi

I got the idea from Consumerist to email "billg@microsoft.com" with my Xbox360 issues, in hopes to at least get confirmation that I'd be receiving the Falcon chipset or even better a NEW model Xbox360. I got a call from MS Customer Service, from somewhere in the Central Time Zone, who said that he'd be "personally taking over my account" and keep me informed about everything. I asked if I could get a new 360 to replace mine... No. I asked if I could at least be assured that I would get the Falcon chipsed this time... No, he cant be sure.
I then asked for compensation in terms of all the time I have been without the 360, when I was still paying for Xbox Live Gold. I'd be getting a 1 month prepaid card (like everyone else that gets their unit sent in for repair) but "they actually aren't even legally obligated to refund anything."
That may be the case, but you shouldn't be telling the client that. Basically, all this dude was doing was paying me lip service. I'm tired of bullshit. I'm tired of shoddy hardware.
You know what? You are correct. All I'm doing is whining. I have no reason to be irritated... I mean, it is perfectly acceptable to have to send your console in repair 4 times in 2.5 years. I forgot all those times that I sent my PS1 and PS2 in for repair.Originally posted by: ducci

I'd probably send it in if you haven't already as long as it was the actual RRoD (THREE quadrants flashing, not all 4)Originally posted by: Muadib
Damn. I saw the RRoD for the first time last week, but it went away after I removed the power cord. Do you think I should send it in anyway, or should I wait to see if it happens again?
