RTCW - saved games hang

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Playing Return To Castle Wolfenstein is proving to be a pain. Quite often when loading in a saved game (same day or next) the status bar will stop, HDD activity disappears, and after a while XP will BSOD telling me that my nVidia driver got stuck in a loop.

This is the only game to cause me a problem.

So far I've tried the following without success:

1) Re-installed game
2) Re-started game in case of corruption 'history'
3) Re-installed WinXP
4) Different drivers (for my GeForce3)
5) Latest mobo BIOS
6) Different mobo BIOS settings
7) Different display settings in RTCW
8) Patched game to v1.1
9) Additional fans added to reduce temps.

I'm running out of ideas. Has anyone else had this?

I can't believe it's the card cos everything else works fine (with Max settings used all the time.)

Actually I had a problem with RTCW where i was trying to play a saved game and it kept telling me that I need a free 5MB on my HD to play the game....wtf?!?!?... the only way I got round this was to save my "saved games" elsehwere and re-install the game again - works fine now

I have 1 x 40GB and 1 x 60GB drive btw - and this was on a freshly formatted system.......

I am having the same problem. I have the latest drivers on Mobo, videocard, via drivers.
Tried safe mode with no help. it just stops loading on saved games.

Thanks for the updates guys. There *could* be a cure!

On the MSI forum someone has upgraded to the latest 'leaked' nVidia drivers (v27.10) and apparently his infinite loops problem has been cured. Fingers crossed this will solve my (our) problem with RTCW.

Save games used to constantly crash RtCW on my system. Search for threads and I think you'll see suggestions to fix similar problems that might also work for you.
