Question RTX8000 GPU card power cable connector

Hello,

My team recently bought 2x RTX8000 from DELL (see ref here: https://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=th&s=bsd&sku=490-BFSH) that came without power connectors and we are struggling to find the appropriate ones.
I have been reading extensively the following thread (http://www.portvapes.co.uk/?id=Latest-exam-1Z0-876-Dumps&exid=threads/server-gpu-connector.2579572/) but could not find a satisfactory answer there.
I have a bunch of questions:

1. First of all, we are so far trying to install the new GPU cards on some Dell PowerEdge R730 to replace some old k40 GPU cards. Note that the link above do not mention compatibility with R730 but rather with R740. Is that a problem? Should we install them into a PE R740 instead?
2. Second, our new GPU cards seem to have a EPS-12V power socket looking at the pattern, which is weird from my fairly limited understanding. Therefore the regular 6-pin + 8-pin connectors that we have do not fit at all. DELL even sent us this kind of connector when we asked for some. Attached are some pictures that can help you better understand the situation. What are the cables that should be used? Can we order them somewhere?

I've read plenty on the topic but it is still fairly confusing to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Wow .... $8 grand a card and they don't include a freaking $2 PCIe dongle in the box? That's just sad.

What I think you need is an adapter which converts either 2x 6-pin PCIe plugs to 1x 8-pin -OR- an adapter for SATA/Molex plugs which serves the same purpose/supplies the same juice.

I think these cards actually use the 8-pin EPS plugs that are used for the CPU/MB, not standard PCIE connectors. Make sure you use the right type of adapter.

Pretty sure the sockets in the plug will prevent it being inserted if the pins don't match up ... barring the use of a hammer of course! Then again the same genius who made the "no adapter" call may have designed that plug....

I suppose from an intended-use standpoint this would make sense since these cards are meant to be installed in a server so there may not be any PCIe dedicated power plugs available.

But that's still no excuse for Dell/Nvidia not including the required adapter(s) or at the very least providing documentation of some kind saying what you'll need to buy!

EDIT: Per the review linked below the card is essentially a 2080ti on steroids with a ton of memory and the "mystery" plug? A 6-pin and an 8-pin PCIe connection per the article.

Unfortunately that's as much work as I'm willing to do off the clock lol ... I'm afraid your at the mercy of Dell tech-support ... either that or you could try reaching out to Nvidia directly.

The pinout on the Dell card is obviously different than what is linked in that article. If you look at the shape of the actual pins, it's standard minifit Jr (ie the same as EPS), not the custom GPU 8 pin.




@OP, I would have an electronic tech ohm it out if I were you to make sure the electrical pinout actually matches the EPS plug. It's crappy that Dell isn't able to offer an acceptable level of support to you on this though.
