But that's certainly better than things stood before. I do think they will cut prices quickly, and yes the VII is likely going to be discontinued soon if it hasn't been already.
No. Its certainly better than what people EXPECTED.

AMD does not have to cut prices, because why would they? Their product is good, and is cheaper to buy than Nvidia competitive products. So why would they?

Because I don't think it's going to sell without a cut, it's not enough to overcome nVidia marketing. They don't have to do it right away.

Wait, what Have I been writing all this time about AMD's mindshare?

Sudenly, AMD may have equally good product, and they have to lower prices for it to sell. Thats not how this business works. Its wishful thinking from consumers. If we go by performance margin, AMD has better performance per watt, and better performance per dollar than Nvidia. Why would they reduce prices? What more they need for their products to sell?

my impression is that Navi can be perhaps better than expected in terms of performance/power, but the pricing is worse than expected.
matching Nvidia's perf/$ while lacking RT is not that great...

If the review posted by Videocardz is right, the performance and power draw is better than I expected. It'll mean proper competition by AMD in perf/W and perf/mm2. Hopefully by next year, they'll compete with Nvidia's best.

While i understand what you mean, there was never any doubt that AMD would be winning in perf/mm2 since they are using the over twice as dense 7nm compared to Nvidia's 12nm made by TSMC.
Even Radeon 7 is wiping the floor with all RTX cards in that regard..

Too bad it didn't translate into cheaper cards for us

And when Nvidia finally decides to show up to the fight (Ampere), they will be using Samsung's 7nm (EUV) which is even denser than the 7nm TSMC process.

Is it illegal?

Not for Raja. Anyone else? Probably. Well okay, Juangra and NostaSeronX can probably get away with it too.

Remember, NV isn't bringing Ampere to the desktop. Kind of like they kept Volta away from us as well. We might not see significantly new desktop parts from NV until 2021? I'm sure AMD is hoping for that.

Would you mind linking source for this claim ?

Its only speculation right now. Nothing official. Ampere will most likely genuinely be made on 7 nm process from SS. But Ampere might be solely HPC Volta replacement.

even if AMD sells it for $250 , people won't buy it.Nvidia mindshare is too damn strong.

That may apply to the uneducated masses who make up the bulk of sales, but forum enthusiasts are more discriminating and tend to read reviews and follow benchmarks. If something is more expensive, but performs better, they will go for it.

Whatever it is, Nvidia's lips are sealed for now.

If so, why not you be the first one, next time?

Here's the only source-ish thing that I have:

So either Ampere isn't going to desktop at all (yes, let's all blame @maddie) or it won't be here until Q1-Q2 2020 at the earliest. I've already been lectured many times that NV won't bother with desktop Ampere at all, etc. etc. so I take it as a matter of faith and leave it at that.

Might have to make this my new wall paper but idk i don't see a FX5800 Ultra so that kind of ruined it for me.

Don't be silly. He's likely dual-wielding Xe prototypes by this point. With a nice blue background.

Well for now its officially my wall paper. Or maybe i can find one that matches this nice little sticker that came on a Corsair 400 Carbine case i got into a monitor deal recently that included the case for some reason . I put the sticker btw on my Meshify C Mini.

Hah, that is pretty good. I like how PC gamers are supposed to look like some combination of Odin (minus the missing eye) and Zeus.

Just do a bundle deal with ryzen 3k instead of a straight price cut. Seems like that would be the best way to go if they anticipate that they won't sell out.
