Who told you it had? Its the exact same card as 290X, besides the memory amount and clocks.

If you want HDMI 2.0 you are going to need one of those DP to HDMI 2.0 converters that will be out around Q3 or Q4.

Who told you I'd the exact same card? It may well be, but we don't know yet.

There we go. Good catch!
HDMI 1.4a means I'm not buying this card. The least amd could've done was upgrade hdmi to 2.0. It is 2015 not 2013. They had almost 2 years to bump the specs.

Thats why they have a Fury to offer you the next generation gaming and advanced technology years ahead of nvidia. dont you feel the performance of it already?
Its magical and perfect.

and probably overpriced. I want a ~$350 stopgap card so it can hold me over until pascal/400 series arrive for true 4k graphics. Then I'll splurge.

I'm still not convinced, and won't be until official unveiling and/or reviews. But if those Best Buy labels stick, then hell should be brought down on Best Buy for false advertising. How many people would go in and see DP HDMI 2 and think HDMI two... 2.0. Awesome, buying! Enough would, I'd say. More than any would think "Oh, mislabel, 2XDVI missing from label."

HDMI 2.0 isn't even labelled on the box anywhere as well.

Edit: Still not conclusive that it is or is not HDMI 2.0 but, IS a text cut off. Is that on the shelf sticker for the 360 vs. the shelf sleeve label for the 390 reads:

http://imgur.com/a/86JIz

XFX DD RADEON R7 360 2GB D5 DP HDMI 2XDVI
vs.
DD RADEON R9 390 1000M 8GB D5 DP HDMI 2

Which is more convincing to me than a description of a totally different source.

No fury leaks, rebadged cards with hopefully slightly improved TDP, upset press sites about not getting review samples ahead of launch....

Unless AMD is trolling everyone, which would be stupid in its own way, it's clear that these launches are going to be ho hum. No one knows anything about Fury yet so I guess there is still hope because holding cards so close to your chest means either the perf/$ on the high end won't change, or AMD has got a grand slam and wants to spring it on Nvidia before Nvidia can react with price cuts.

As far as the rest of the rebadged series is concerned, AMD should stop being coy about the rebadged. Instead own up to it, tout whatever (small) improvements there might be, and hammer home the perf/$ metric. A slightly faster Hawaii with 2x the vram and aftermarket coolers at $379-399 will review very well against the $500 5% faster gtx980. Why can't AMD do something right at a GPU launch?? 7970 was meh at launch for a $550 next gen high end, 290x reviewed like a gtx 480 without a clear advantage, and Tonga had less vram and traded blows with the cheaper 7950...

Wouldn't say they ignored them. I'm seeing G3D were the ones that said they'd get review samples after a set date. Possible what was told to the other sites. Except G3D didn't jump on Twitter or write an article about it.

The 300 series will be launched in three days and there are no review samples out.

They will get Fiji after the event and i've read that reviews will be posted a week later.

.

Really?

And you still are in doubt.

Before hdmi advanced their standard, it was just HDMI.

If it doesn't specifically say hdmi2.0 on the box, if it only says HDMI........

I am more surprised that the proAMD folks are still cheering as all this is playing out. Its bizarre.

AMD going underground and sticking it to the media. Yeah, I can't see how people think this is great.
I really hate the idea that all these cards are looking to be straight rebrands. Sticking it to the media, that's how they plan on getting marketshare back up?

I can't say 100% that this will turn out bad for them, but scares the crap out of me.

I guess the stay calm "campaign" is in full force.

I am having a real hard time with that. This is really looking terrible to me.

I thought there is no release date announced for 300 series and that E3 event is just for that purpose [specs, price and date]?

You're not wrong. But FreeSync only supports DP 1.2a but the specific version isn't listed either.

Overall though I'm in the Fury Pro/980 price range for a new card.

The rebrands are in stores right now. We will get specs and prices for them but it looks that there wont be reviews...

Agreed. I hope I am wrong, but I bet people that are holding out hope for these cards to be anything other than rebrands will be disappointed.

All indications point to Fury coming later this month and you can bet all press outlets will be getting samples for that. After official word of the rebadges comes out I expect AMD to shift all attention to Fury to counter negative press. They are trying to control the message, at least that's what it looks like to me.

In summary, the entire reveal/launch is a complete failure before it ever happened and before we have seen a single review of any card. Brilliant post.

Well then, no need to tune in for the livestream. I would be in work anyway. Will save myself potential trouble if my boss catches me watching twitch.

No misinformation at all. Using the best info on hand to form my current opinion. If you feel like I am trolling then please report it. If you feel like I am wrong, please explain.

Everything thus far leading up to the launches is a failure. No other way to put it. Step outside the AMD Zone and look around at gaming (non technical) website forums / comments. Shacknews, giantbomb, bluesnews, kotaku, ars, gamespot...these people represent 95% of the buying market from ultra high end to low end. Most posters on this subject are being as critical on AMD's current actions as I am, if not flat out given up. There are a few adamant defenders - like yourself - but the vast posters that were waiting with old hardware have been jumping the gun on the GTX 980 TI + 1 game or $499 GTX 980 + two games because there has been very little indication that the 300 series is going to be anything other than the same old chips (not even a mention that GloFo is truly making the chips, not even as if GloFo is a proven GPU chip maker at this point in time anyways), and beyond the HBM overview a month ago - there has been virtually nothing on Fiji performance.

Witcher 3, GTA V, Cars, Wolfenstein New Blood, Kerbel Space... all these demanding games have come out in the past 2-3 months and potential customers who bought these games are sick of waiting on uncertainty when they want to be playing NOW, or they were enticed with Nvidia game bundles.

I'm not defending Nvidia either. Kepler performance is all over the place lately, ranging from decent to outright bad. I tend to think/agree with people who say Nvidia is stretched out too thin supporting 3 architectures and/or are purposefully avoiding Kepler optimizations. But that changes nothing about the current AMD situation and reveal in the face of Nvidia's Maxwell lineup.
