Rumored Xbox 360 shipments to BestBuy stores

taken from HDC - each store is getting a different amount. check the HDC site for more information on what store is getting what amount.
There is a rumor that BestBuy stores nationwide will receive a shipment of Xbox 360's on Friday, December 16, and will put them on sale in the stores on Sunday, December 18.

Most stores should be recieving between 30 and 60 depending on store size and sales (obviously).

Not just a rumor. There was a scan of the company newsletter. They instructed the stores to hold any xboxes until then if they had any left (i.e. take them off the shelves), and that they were going to have a big sale on 18th. Also they said you aren't supposed to force ppl to buy bundles (since a bunch of BB stores did that last time) and that you can return any parts of bundle you want.

FYI - Sam's Club is getting them on the 15th. If you have a business membership you can get into Sam's at 7AM before everyone else.

From thier Retail Insider newsletter. They've supposed to have been holding back the xbox 360s they have left since dec 2nd.

I'm pretty sure its legit. I know that that is the name of their company newsletter (although I hear its distributed on pdf form rather than actual paper).
For example heres a post from a BB employee a few months ago mentioning the newsletter name:

That should be enough to convince you that the name of the BB newsletter is whats on the scanned document. And as seen above, there's data elsewhere on what BB's should have how many xbox 360's on 18th.

Why is Microsoft taking so long in between shipments.. especially from the initial shipment?

Did they hold production due to the few isolated incidents of heat issues, so they rectified the issue?

Per MS, they're sending out shipments every week. It is up to the individual retailer to distribute the units to the store. Target has been sending 360s to its stores every weeks but each store has only been getting around 5 or 6 units. Best Buy has essentially been hoarding 360s in distribution centers so that they can do another launch on the 18th.

Sam's and Wal-Mart is another one that has been hoarding for a release on the 15th.

No, they just don't like the launch lineup. The big launch titles for Japan (DOA4, Enchant-arm, Ninety-nine Nights) were all delayed leaving only 6 titles available. That killed a good chunk of the demand.

Maybe things will pickup after DOA4 and some of these other titles are released but the Xbox will always have an uphill battle in Japan.

I would have waited overnight for the Nov. 22nd release except I was out of the country and my sister screwed me by not picking one up for me.

I'd probably just drive by there a few times through the night and get in line when you start seeing more than 10 or 15 people lining up.

My friend who works at Best buy told me about the shipment about a week ago. He said theyll be on the shelves the 18th and he'll snag himself another one for ebay ;p

If you read the memo, you'll see that he might have a hard time getting away with that.

Walmart employees "stole" xbox 360s from the consumers on the release days. I'm sure many stores are violating the rules and making up excuses if neccessary.
Best Buy probably has much stricter policies though.

My wife spoke with a manager of a local Sam's Club (Snellville, GA). I saw postings at two different forums from individuals saying that their local Sam's were getting them in on the 15th too.

I believe so. Around 20 units all premiums with extra wireless controller and plug and play charge kit.
