Rumored Xbox 360 shipments to BestBuy stores

I actually tried to do my good deed for the day and warn the 40th or so ppl in line at 9pm in Worcester, MA... took the time to explain that I knew the stock levels and wasn't trying to somehow con them out of their 360, because neither I or anyone I know was planning on jumping in line after they left... they cussed me out. Fair enough.

I woke up the next morning, well rested, casually got breakfast at Dunkin Donuts, then returned to the store and waited outside for them to come out empty handed... as they passed by, looking dejected, we met eyes and they recognized me... I smiled quietly, holding my Premium (gotten elsewhere) in one arm and hot coffee in the other, and said, "I told you so. Sleep well?" The younger one (late teens?) started to cry.

Hey, he went through the same effort. Not only that, the people who didn't get one obviously didn't think it was worth the effort to go stand in line quite as early as he did. Save that sort of criticism for the people who DIDN'T earn what they have to sell (Like all the guys on eBay with stacks of 20+ consoles in their photos). They had to be pulling scams or employees getting dibbs or hoarding independant game store inventory or something. Bastards.

I wouldn't call what you did "earning" anything. However, you did wait outside, scored an Xbox, and you have every right to do what you want with it!

And about your comment of the people who had 20+ consoles. You may be right on a few, but others, actually do this sort of "ebay" thing for a living. There were a few people over @ another forum who admitted this, and really, if you have nothing but time you'd have no problem scoring a few either.

Hell, I work a real job and I was still able to score 4 bundles online. Easy as pie...just gotta be persistent.

I waited in line for over 14 hrs at a Midnight Launch Best Buy on Launch Day. No way I was going to sell my precious premium after that long camping episode.
I was still amazed to see how many were waiting outside two days before the Dec 18th. Yikes.

The people were either:

a) Trying to make a buck.
b) Waiting in line to get a gift for their kids.
c) Pursuing their hobby of gaming.

I don't see a problem, I can think of a lot worse ways people spend their time... like, perhaps, passing judgement on others on Hot Deal forums

Depends on who you ask, lots of people like PGR3 or COD2. PGR3 looks very impressive to me from the vids and screenshots. Of course I dont have any consoles, I'm more of a PC gamer. But I understand that PGR3 is quite popular.

By the way, some of the best buy workers on Sunday mentioned some additional small shipments may come in this week - it wont be advertised so you would just have to go to the store and check. Can anyone confirm?

PGR3 is great! The online part of it is fun - I'd like to see more in the way of how the rankings are done to make them a bit more equitable for people who don't play all the time. The game is great, though. Graphics are extremely clean. Great sound, etc.

Madden has crazy graphics. They cut a lot out that I guess they just couldn't get programmed in time for the release, but it's still a fun game online and for fantasy league-ing in franchise mode.

In short, there are some very good games out for 360. Just because you can't get one or are a Sony fanboy doesn't mean that there aren't people enjoying the heck out of their 360's.

Oh - and one more thing. Most of the "problems" are due to idiots owning the consoles. Moving it from horizontal position to vertical or vice versa when there's a game in and the unit is on????? They deserve for their games to be scratched. What idiots do that???? Putting a power brick the size of a Ghostbusters trap right next to the console in a closed off compartment??? Once again, don't be an idiot. I have had not problem one on mine and don't expect to. Funny how common sense works, isn't it???

I opened my kids 360 last night to test it after hearing all the stories - couldn't have them opening it on XMAS morning and not having it work. I played COD2 and Ridge Racer 6 for over an hour - the power brick was barely warm. I can't imagine it being a problem. COD2 graphics were pretty cool at 1080i on my 42" Toshiba.

You paid $400 to play a version of Madden that has LESS functionality than last years version, but looks a bit better. That's the whole theme of this launch. Hey, the games are identical to one's that came out last year, but they look a bit better.

And why would you think that someone moving the Xbox from a horizontal position to a vertical position "deserve" to get their games scratched? Do you know how optical drives work?

Also, use fewer question marks.

Anyway back ontopic, I scoped out my local bestbuy at midnight before Sunday the 18th, and found around 50 people there already. I don't see why anyone would wait 12 hours outside in 25 degree weather for a console, and for the record I like videogames.

Grapics arent everything. Look at the Grand Theft Auto series. Graphics suck, gameplay is amazing

If I were you I would have looked for the officer that hit your fingers with the stick and made an effort to file charges against him. AS you said you were trying to balalnce yourself. What he did was in fact an assault. Granted I would have grabbed an unit first but while waiting in line to pay I would have told a store employee who would have told somebody higher up...etc. BTW I hope your fingers are ok

I suspect you opened it because you couldn't wait to play it. You're using the whole "to make sure it works for them" as an excuse to rationalize opening your kids' gift.

Actually, I very rarely ever play the console games. I stick to the PC. I wanted to make sure A) The dang thing wasn't going to be messed up out of the box and B) wanted to make sure I had all the connections working so the kids can just play it right away without me digging through instruction manuals and moving components around plugging garbage in and whatnot.
