Polaris 10 maxed out is a little better than a GTX 980/390X, slightly slower than Fury/Fury X.

Now we know why AMD is probably going to price Polaris 10 at $299-ish -- at $379, 1070 should be faster, and obviously 1080 goes unrivaled.

My prediction is that R9 390/390X/Fury/Fury X all get EOL'd in favor of Polaris 10. Much better cost structure (no HBM, smaller die, narrower bus width), as well as probably much better perf/watt.

Assuming the 1070 ever drops down to a $380 MSRP. When Nvidia states $450 and $380, with no launch date of the $380 MSRP, we have to assume it's $450 until the $380 comes around.

The $380 price tag is literally Nvidia announcing a pricecut before it happens without telling us when it will happen.

At 1070 launch of $450 I see P10 at $300-350.
At 1070 price cut of $380 (whenever it comces around), I expect to see P10 drop to $280-300.

Also, recent stock data showed NewEgg got a new shipment of R9 390s. So while it would be intelligent to EOL the R9 390 according to this leak, I mean, this is AMD we're talking about, so I have no ideai what they'll actually do.

This supposedly the same engineering sample from SiSoft Sandra.

There will be partner boards with cheap coolers that hit the MSRP, why would you think otherwise?

They don't control the launch dates of its partners' cards.

I'm not tracking.

AMD isn't going to put out P10 at a price only to force AIB partners to drop prices once NVIDIA partners put out 1070.

So Hawaii XT = 2816 SPs @ 1050 MHz is roughly equal to Ellesmere XT? = 2304 SPs @ 1267 MHz (if not higher). Nearly the same performance comparing to GCN 1.1?

Yes, and the MSRP is $450.

Exactly, so no one knows when the $380 1070 is coming. Do you have any AIB stating they are launching a $380 1070?

Nvidia isn't going to put out the 1070 at $450, only to force AIB partners to drop the price to $380 directly afterwards....

Interesting thought however. Hawaii has 5.916 TFLOPs of compute power. 2304 GCN core with 1.266 GHz has 5.833 TFLOPs.

Scores are... interesting.

I am sure all the AIBs know that the first out of the gate with a $379 1070 will get a lot of business, so they're all probably pretty interested in getting such cards out ASAP.

Nvidia isn't going to put out the 1070 at $450, only to force AIB partners to drop the price to $380 directly afterwards....

The AIB partners will have a range of products. Some with high end coolers for $450+, some with crappy ones for $379.

I don't think you appreciate the "love letter" to the AIBs that NVIDIA has written here. They put enough distance between the 1080 and 1070 to give AIB partners room to do a whole wide range of 1070 SKUs, from $379 conceivably to $500ish. The AIBs also have a lot of room around the 1080, ranging from cheapest $599 parts, all the way to north of $699 since the Founders Edition is priced there.

IMO, the AIBs will have a field day with 1070/1080.

6% under FuryX thats awesome...
And that is only 2304SP version.
I am eager to see what performance will be in games...
1080 is there only 20% faster than TITANX...But in games it is 25-30%...

Assuming that those scores are legit, that the P10 will cost 300$, and that the 1070 is really ≈ Titan X - then at the supposed "MSRP" of 380$, it looks like they're basically the same 3dmark/$. At 450$ though, P10 has much better value.

Those scores are decent IMO for the P10, about what I expected I think, maybe even a bit higher.

Indeed that would be great. And we don't know if these are final clocks either. Higher clock is certainly possible.

So you have no release date of the 1070 at $380.... Good to know.
You just know $380 1070s are coming "soon".

When you have an AIB confirming the $380 pricetag of the $600 pricetag of the 1070/1080 respectively please post it. Right now, they're pricedrops of the original MSRPs Nvidia listed with an uncomfirmed release date.

So far there are zero leaks about the rumoured 2560 SPs version. I'm starting to think the full die packs 2304 SPs and C4/C7 are different versions of the same product (perhaps mobile and desktop).

If true and if 480x pricing is consistent with 380x pricing, then 90% of 1070 with a single card and ~90% of 1080 with two cards is a pretty compelling offering for the mainstream.

Scores are... interesting.

So we have 5916 / 5833 = a ~1% decrease in compute power, which gives us a 18060 / 16975 = ~6% increase in performance.

Iam doubtful this is all the performance gain we will be, but there is a small "IPC" increase at least (compared to a other node shrink)

Hope more information will leak soon

This level of performance would be good for $249-299 VGAs. I hope AMD doesn't push above that.

Why not compare with the Fury, since they have roughly equal scores? :sneaky:

2304 Sps @ 1.3Ghz vs. 3584 SPs @ 1Ghz.

It appears that this benchmark is heavily constrained by Rasterization performance.

Look at how close are R9 390X, GTX 980, Fury, and Fury X. All of them have 64 ROPS.

That other node shrink is right there at the top of the benchmark, above (rumoured) P10 CF.

Assuming those are legitimate numbers, we're still missing the power draw context. That will make or break Polaris, given its focus on mobile and mainstream OEM markets.

wow, if this turns out to be true, my 290 will be king for 2 more years since both amd and nvidia are only releasing big dies next year.

If they keep 480x sub $299, then plentiful quantities of non-FE 10x0 cards won't be far behind.

A list price of $279 for 480x has a nice ring to it... 90% of 1070 performance at a 25% discount w/ the option to upgrade to near-1080 performance in the future.

Underwhelming IPC improvement if this is accurate. Well, compare it to Fury and Fury X and it's a bit more favorable, but we know those cards are fundamentally flawed.

If this is accurate, then power consumption is mostly the winner here with a minor performance-per-dollar improvement. You can already get a 390 for $300, so if 2304SP P10 is $300 then it is what, about 20% more performance for the same price (assuming 390 matches 970 in this benchmark)?

It's nice that it's nearly Fury Air speed, but that card never had the best performance per dollar compared to Hawaii.

To people who wanted a 390 and we told them to wait, did they really just wait for 20% performance and much lower power consumption?
