I wish I could watch it. No one lost last night more than he did. His own party will disown him now. 2 whole years as a lame duck is really gonna suck for him. Not that he doesn't deserve it.Originally posted by: DonVito
Jesus - Bush is bumbling on like he's missing a chromosome.
Lame duck? Well that is up to him.
Reagan reached out to the Dems. And Clinton reached out to the Reps. Maybe neither really wanted to....but they sometimes did.

I know. That's the reason we have impeachment for both of them.Originally posted by: Lothar

Bush's lips must have been moving. :thumbsup:Bush Wants Rumsfeld, Cheney To Stay
President Gives Support To Two Most Criticized Members Of His Cabinet
WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2006
(CBS/AP) President Bush said Wednesday he wants Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Vice President Dick Cheney to remain in his administration until the end of his presidency, extending a job guarantee to two of the most criticized members of his team.
If we're lucky, Cheney's next. Then, it'll be time for the Numbnutz In Chief.
That would have shown Bush going back on his word, which would have perhaps swayed more people to not vote Republican. That it came the day after elections says that it was likely a political move.Originally posted by: d3n
I think this is Bush's way of insuring that his convictions can prevail. He knew that in the current political lineup that Rumsfeld's credibility was spent. Rumsfeld has offered to resign several times already. Bush knows the U.S. can't just pull out without all of this messing coming back on home turf. So now was the time for a new pointman. Why it didn't happen before the election I don't know.
I predict incredible applause when they mention Rumsfeld's resignation.Originally posted by: catnap1972

Actually, We understand the American people have voted and there will has been done!!
Unlike alot of peeps who cried when GWB got elected for a 2nd term!
We are hanging in there and supporting our government and country!!
2008 could really be interesting in many ways!!
Just one question though.....
How many of you who post here actually are able to vote?
Just a thought...

Why he didn't resign before the election?
It may have been that they thought him leaving before the election would be a sign that things were going bad and therefore would result in even an even worse result than what we saw.
They were saying on National Review etc that the whole positive attitude was aimed on keeping the troops fired up and going to the phones etc.
Had Rumsfeld left a few weeks ago a lot volunteers might have just given up.
If that had happened the loss could have been even bigger.
This is the one reason I can think of right now. I am sure we shall hear more in the next few days.
My advice to a few of you... as the saying goes... When you make it to the end zone don't act like a fool, but act like you've been there before.
Unfortunately, you're right... 2 years in the AF... oh joy.Originally posted by: Lothar
