fast is around 20mph.

I do a 400 in 55 seconds, and a 200 in 24.

So are you just planning on running sprints out in some field, or are you joining track or something? I only ask because it's hard to accurately time yourself. Basically impossible if you are really sprinting.

BS

I ran track for 6 years, this is the "fast" speed (for men) for each race:

100 meters: 9.9-10.4 seconds
200 meters: 21.6-22.4 seconds
400 meters: 46.2-48.2 seconds
800 meters: 1:55-1:57
1600 meters: 4:10-4:40
3200 meters: 9:20:9:50

A 4:10 mile is insane. The fastest mile I have ever run is 5:45, and I'm not exactly sluggish....

more insane is the 1:55 800. i mean its been done, but the 800 is sooo freakin hard. two 400s in a row!

I acutally found the 400 more difficult. The 400 is the most difficult and presitgious race. I ran between a 1:56-1:57 in the 800. That was after running my 400.

I ran a 4:55 mile in my junior year of high school. To date, I count that as my greatest athletic achievement.

Agreed. The 400 is by far the hardest event. To go on an all-out sprint for 400 meters is quite hard. After each race I practically throw-up (and have a few times) from over-exerting myself.

I don't think I've actually run a mile, unless you count long breaks in between. If you do, my fastest mile was around 24 hours.

at what age are we talking here? Judging by those times, I'm guessing high school level? Also, I'm assuming those time are for outdoor track?
I ran indoor track my junior and senior year of high school and ran a 23.9 in the 200m and a 49.7 (my money race) in the 400m. Ran the 800m once and managed a 2:05 (had no idea how to run it, I practically power walked the first two laps )

My coach always begged me to run in outdoor (unfortunately, I was all-state in baseball so I had to play that in the spring ) saying I'd probably run a 47 something in outdoor for the 400m.

i've sprinted around 17mph before :-D next to a car.....that's the fastest clocked i've ever been, and who knows how accurate that was

Yea, high school and college. Indoor track was always easier to me, softer track, plus the ledges to run up on. And the 800m is a two lap race, so are you saying that you power walked a 2:05? That's insane considering alot of talented atheletes strive to get near 2:00.

Good analysis...That's REAL fast for HS at sea level.. I would add 5% to those scores unless kids are getting much faster since I was in track in the 1980s.. I was about 210-220 and ran bests of 10.5, 22.5 and always placed 1 or 2 or 3.. Placed 3rd in invitational in Orange county as a senior.. Anyway 3rd fastest on football team ran 4.5 40... As I said I think 11.5 is very fast for normal population. and what Krassus could be really happy to achive..

I'm not in the kind of shape I was in high school, graduated in 98. Before high school, I did a lot of short track inline speed skating. My 7th grade year I ran the 400 in 56 seconds. I got to about 52 seconds in the 400 by my sophomore year, but I never got any faster than that. Now i would be lucky to run it in 1:10.

The fastest I ran the 800 was 2:08. I could run the mile in 5:30 but nothing better. I was able to do the 3.2 mile cross country run in about 18:55. I quit sports altogether my junior year to focus on music.

I was able to run the 40 in 4.8. I'm a smaller white guy too, 5'8, 140 pounds. My friend keeps claiming to have run the 40 in 4.2 and he is no bigger than me. Everytime he says that I laugh at him and say if your not bs'ing me then your memory is screwed, because you never ran it that fast.

LOL..I doubt it..

Really depends how it's measured. First move? gun? Football coaches have notoriously slow thumbs LOL... 4.2 is Deon Sanders in his prime...on first move too...His legs are like a gazell and weighs about 190...

They are approaching the 4 min mile quick & I though that I was quick for doing 5:12 at 1000 meter in grade 9.
