Running Windows 7 on MB?

I need to install Windows on my MB because some of the sites I go to for business is only compatible with IE.

Most of the reviews I've read about installing Windows 7 on MBs (and pretty much other machines) is to not run them on mission critical machines.

Though the computer is mission critical, most of my work will be online/cloud based, so if the Windows section gets hosed, no big deal.

Does anyone here run Windows 7 on the MB, and how stable has it been?

I am running Win7 on my Core Duo Macbook Pro just fine. It is a Beta afterall, but no issues that I have encountered.

As for the MB, I am not sure if all/any of the drivers are mature for Win7. For Vista they are, so I would assume they are for Win7, but you never know.

I'm running build 7068 through Parallels and it's great. Surprisingly snappy!

I don't have an experience with BootCamp but I'd have to imagine the Vista drivers would be fine under 7. Everything I've installed so far has been peachy!

one not just use IE tab addon for firefox? Thats a bit less intensive than runnign a full blown os...

OK i guess its not compatible with mac. The curse of the mac lol

I had the 7 beta installed on my MacBook via bootcamp and it worked pretty well. If you also run VMWare, I would recommend against having it access your BootCamp install as a VM, that seemed to cause some instability, and finally, NTFS corruption of some kind (Win 7 seemed to delete itself or something).

IE tab doesn't always work anyways, I've come to realize.

Windows 7 works fairly well, but I still find XP to be MUCH faster in a VM than Windows 7. I'm curious to try out the Win7 Starter Edition to see how tweaked that is for speed.

Interesting. Maybe I'll get that instead. All I really need is IE and perhaps load a couple of programs in Windows.

Yea.. I don't use Windows enough to warrant needing more than 3 programs open at a time, which is what Starter Edition supports. I don't have a license for Vista Starter, but I installed it from the disc that I have and it flew in comparison to XP and Vista.. so I'm quite interested to see how the Win7 version works.

Instead of an entire 2nd OS, try Crossover Mac and IE 6. Works for most of what I need it for.

Yea.. I do use that.. but I need to be able to test in IE7 and 8, plus Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc... I solely use Windows for web testing. If you just need IE for some random ActiveX support, then Crossover would work.

I may have the "free" version of CxM that they made available for a short time. Also grabbed CxG (Crossover Games) at the same time.

Crossover was super buggy for me unfortunately. I found IE4OSX significantly more stable - http://www.kronenberg.org/ies4osx/

I couldn't ever get it working.. but I didn't try to much, since VMWare works just fine. I'm sure IE4OSX is much quicker though.
