Real men cook.
Oh I cook. I am a total foodie in every sense of the word. However, I go to restaurants to steal their ideas. Thus why I need at least 5 good ones.

I can't be stealing from Jimmie's late night burger house and Janice's house of tenders.

The headsets around rural vs urban living are often kinda screwy. I think it's important to understand that quality of life issues in small town & rural America won't get better with smaller govt but that's what they say they want. Private enterprise won't keep the hospitals or the senior centers open, pave the roads or a lot of other good stuff that sparsely populated places can't afford on their own. That takes government. But they don't want government. They want it to be the way it was before the job creators dumped 'em. In many respects, they want it to be the way it was before the New Deal was abandoned w/o realizing that's what made their way of life as good as it was for their parents & grandparents.

I live in rural America and everything you mentioned, minus the university, is closer to me than that.

You must live in a very, very particular place in your rural community then, haha. If the average person in your town isn’t WAY farther away from all those amenities than you are it sure doesn’t sound like you live in a rural area.

Im in suburban/rural MA, because Im only a few minutes from civilization. some rural spots here are remote enough that its miles and miles away from even a convenience store.

hospitals are hours away, snows in thw winter make even the main roads not usable.

If youre within a mile or two from civilization, youre not rural.

the farther north you go, the more rural it is....like nothing around. I like it though, sitting outside and listening to nature, or going for a hike and just taking it in. meh, i digress....rural america is effed with their own idealogies.

We should really just shoot everyone more than 1 mile outside an urban area.
Wait, that would require guns. Strike that.

I'm really happy I was born in the suburbs of a relatively successful metro area and able to find a job here. I've driven through the country. It sucks

Yeah, pretty much. Small gov't makes sense until it, um, doesn't. There's no free lunch as they say, though I'm using that in reverse to show how rural folks still don't understand the success of federal social insurance programs and the immense public good derived from shared gov't dollars. But it'll be forced on them eventually.
