In the wake of BREXIT, and the diminishing power of Germany due to the economic impacts they’ve had to endure as a result of sanctions - France stands alone as a European power with the best prospects for pursuing a semi-autonomous agenda. They are on a path of Ascendancy, if they can maintain sufficient political stability and poliv continuity needed to pull it off. Given this is France - that’s a big if.

Another day, another Russian terror attack via missiles into population centers / residential homes.
Each day we do not wield our power and help put an end to this, more homes become tombs for entire families.

CNN: What we know about the overnight Russian missile strikes on Ukraine
Uman: Officials say the death toll in Uman stands at 19, including three children. Eighteen people have been wounded.
According to Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko, there were 46 apartments inside one of the buildings that were hit, of which 27 were completely destroyed. He said it may take a day to clear all the rubble.
CNN also spoke to a local woman, Liuda, whose friend lived on the eighth floor. When she heard the building had been hit, Liuda rushed there to find that her friend had survived, but her friend’s husband had been hospitalized and their two daughters, aged 7 and 13, were still missing.

Before we think this was a stray missile, this was supposedly (grain of salt) "right on target" according to the Russian MOD.
Don't know if anyone can verify, but this does seem to be standard Orc policy. For western cameras they would often try to excuse their actions, or play it down. But for domestic audiences they know exactly who they are and what they intend to do with their military might.

Russian men generally have no qualms about the Genocide they are dedicated to committing.

Interesting news about the Northstream explosions.
Depends; if in normal case of activity a russian ship sails by every week then it is not a big deal; if normally a russian ship (or crane ship) sail by once every decade it is a big deal. context matters.

Update on the intended targets.
Appears that it was not just one missile intended for civilian housing.
Rather, it was every single missile.

EXPLAINED: Russia Adopts New Missile Attack Tactics, Aims Only at Civilians

A few hours after the attack in the early hours of Thursday morning as the civilian death toll was still rising, the Russian defense ministry said it has used long-range precision missiles to target "points of temporary deployment of reserve units of the Ukrainian armed forces", adding that "all assigned objects were hit."
The only things hit on both Thursday and Friday, according to reports from the ground, were civilian residences or apartment buildings and those people inside.

Repeat, large scale housing is the only target now.
And we still don't retaliate.

Each time I see another russian missile strike kill people I wish that they'd get hit by a million cruise missile salvo from all sides reducing all of their infrastructure to rubble.

I find myself mentally unwell everytime I read a piece about dead civvies, especially children. I only pray the Russian people get a grip with reality and foricibly oust Putin and kill him in the streets. His fucking cronies, too.

It’s the oil terminal in Sevastopol port.

Just a smoking accident no doubt.
The ABC reporting here in Australia on this included a '30th April' date as the start of the counter offensive. Apparently told to the Australian reporter by 'sources'.

Ofcause I don't believe for a second that Ukrainian officials would hesitate in using an Australian reporter for spreading misinformation

Russia is definitely trying to provoke an incident with the west.
Provoke an incident is a nice way of pretending there is not already a war. That we intend to just sit idly by and watch Ukrainians die.

To hell with provoking, Russia provoked us on Feb 24th, 2022. All Russian assets outside Russia should have been forfeit early last year.
You see a Russian jet outside Russia, you take the shot.

OK, but drone jammers can be suitcase sized or smaller AFAIK? They're just powerful portable radios that flood the frequencies? Wouldn't each squad carry one?

Just curious about that. Wouldn't the use of such strong radiation be very bad for the health of those folks that's near those things?

The last time the Russians fucked around with us in Syria they found out real real hard.
The last time we had hard contact was when they rammed our convoy with actual russian troops and the orange idiot did nothing about it. Wagner got smoked at the Conoco facility by approximately 40 SO troops with air support after the russians denied it was their peeps.

I love watching the documentary on that one especially when they show the intercepted phone calls over it. Russian pilots need to feel the same love from us.

Radio waves, like any other non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation (including visible light), can only hurt you if it cooks you. If you feel heat, move away.

And flooding the frequencies to jam signals doesn't require THAT much power.

We aren't sitting idly by. We made contact with the UA in 2014 and, along with the Brits, started to improve their training. We've shipped well over a $100B dollars in lethal aid to Ukraine (hmm, need to find a summary). Our NATO allies have pretty much matched that as a whole, plus taking in the many refuges. At the start of the war, NATO wasn't united. Biden didn't want to commit to fighting in Europe without the rest of Europe on board. We also massively underestimated the RA's competence - and hesitated to act because of the that intelligence failure.

So here we are. Yes, if we wanted to make sure Ukraine won, we have the tools to do it. Between the NATO allies, the decision is to not move that aggressively. It seems the consensus is that we have given Ukraine a sufficient number of advanced weapons, plus training for something like 60K troops out of country, that they should be able to conduct a major, successful summer campaign. If the UA can't do so, the calculus may change.

I certainly am distressed over the casualties and destruction this war has wrought on the Ukrainian people and their country. But, geopolitics is a game played standing on a knife's sharp edge. Better this than 'guns blazing' approach of Bush.
