Russia then proceeded to blow up Ukrainian ports.If Ukraine can increase their attacks, as seems the aim, insurers will decline to cover ships and cargo here. IIRC roughly half of Russian seaborne oil is exported through the Black Sea. The vast majority of their ag exports also come out of here. Keeping the grain deal in place was more beneficial to Russia than it was to Ukraine if you account for the economic impact of unrestricted maritime war in the northeastern Black Sea, which they apparently didn't think about.
