Not for long I think. As reported earlier in the thread, the US and the Europeans will start hunting the assets of Russian oligarchs.

Would be some kind of wonderful if these assets could be used to rebuild a free Ukraine.
Story I read said that Abramovich (SP?) was not on the list of sanctioned Russians.

Did Kadyrov just back out and go home? If it's true holy crap. So much for being shock troops. Alpha Group really handed those guys their asses.

Looking to confirm, might be fake

considering his general buddy dude was wiped out, together with 56 tanks....yeah, I think they done.

And before everyone says 'Whhaaaattt? nooooo he'd never be that stupid!', a lot of people were saying the same goddamned thing before he walked troops in, defying the absolutely legendary level of economic (and military) destruction that we knew would fall on Russia if he did. And remember, at this time he has little to lose except his life, which might be forfeit anyhow.
I think it's more plausible that Putin loses power than drops a nuke on Kyiv.

well, uh..how many days before anti-cancel culture conservatives start buying up pallets of Smirnov in protest?
Smirnov by the gallon in a one hour period is an effective covid-19 preventive. Pass it on to all your conservative friends. Tell them the government is canceling Russian vodka because big pharma doesn't want them to have the covid cure. Russian vodka only contains special properties.

If this thread is to be believed .... This isn't really going very well...

oh how I hope this to be accurate. Sounds like they only have a skeleton force to surround cities, and not really capture them as they march as thin as they can to Kyiv, but that initial airport assault was a major, failed gamble that they needed, and probably failed to their doom. Those columns divided up to cut off cities, but not hold them, were depending on Kyiv being established. Now, they are very likely sunk, especially if out of rockets.

Seeing that column devastated like that, is nuts.

The Chechens losing their top commander and 56 tanks...huge.

$20 billion per day, if that alone is true, even if the best numbers we are seeing are really quite inflated, that cost is huge for Russia as they burn through the stash that was meant to fund about 5 days.

I mean...if even half of the parts of that story are true, in top of the other confirmed losses today, those videos and such, it's really quite bad for Vladdy

Idk, I'm leaning towards it being fake at this point. The Chechans did seize a base somewhere earlier I heard, they've had some successes.

People are saying that video of Kadyrov himself is editted and the context is weird. We'll see. I hope it's true though.

well, uh. hmm, if true...

but why does Russia have to move Nukes that close? Are their capabilities that ancient? Are these specific, very low yield warheads?
Most likely tactical nuclear weapons. But... I think this is just a message to the Europeans. Although any message with nuclear in its body smells of desperation. I think Lukashenko knows that if Putin is removed, he will be next in a very short order.

Speaking of Putin being removed... could this be a start?

Rapid deployment. The longer an object is in the air, the more time someone has to respond to it. It's the reason nuke subs were invented.

So as we move forward from this, I have very real concern as to whether Putin will do something drastic, and incredibly stupid, like drop a nuke on Kyiv. Not sure if that still sounds crazy (I had been brainstorming that a few days ago when it sounded crazier) but I really don't see Putin just say 'aw, gosh, sorry guys, guess we lost' and tucking tail. I also don't see a way he can spin this to make it look like a Russian victory. He doesn't serve a purpose of it isn't bringing benefit or glory to Russia, so I'm very concerned about him using the one card he'll have left at the end of everything.

Ya. ... he's been throwing around bluster about threatening nuclear war to anyone who gets in his way. I don't take that seriously, but he seems more unhinged than normal. He is turning 70 and there have been rumors floating around for some time about his health, so who knows what he'll do if he thinks he's running out of time to do whatever he has in his mind. Rambling about "de-nazifying" Ukraine (whatever that means?) His whole schtick has always been lying, manipulation and plausible deniability, and now with more or less the whole world not buying his current bullshit this is not going very well for him. I wouldn't really put anything past him at this point. And who knows ... if the oligarchs who are hiding all his money get pissed off enough, he may find some heavy metal in his food.

They are short range munitions, about 600 miles of range and packing a single warhead anywhere from .1 to 20 kilotons in strength. These are a real problem. I think the US is the only other country that has them, and not only do we have far fewer (about 200), only 100 are even in Europe. Russia has thousands, but the number people agree on most seems to be 2000.

Cool tool to visualize the scope of nuclear blasts nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

Plutonium Polonium maybe. They'll say he had a heart attack.

This might just Lukashenko offering not really actually happening.

Hopefully if any nukes are actually moving Biden will deliver a very strong warning.

Like what? Is there even anything left to sanction?

Has anyone even confirmed this Macron statement about nukes? Or was it more of a hypothetical, Belarus could allow it?

On the nukes in Belarus... some scary idle thoughts. Putin may not be a good military campaigner, but he knows the art of 'force'.

Imagine that Putin is having troubles in conquering Kyiv. So he opens up with artillery and other large scale bombardment means to root out the UA Army and civil defenders. Remember the Battle of Grozny in 1999?
The siege and fighting devastated the capital like no other European city since World War II. In 2003 the United Nations called Grozny the most destroyed city on Earth.
There is a chance that the same could happen again. Except this time its in Central Europe. I don't believe European states will just sit idly by while a major capital city is reduced to ruins with a massive loss of civilian life.

Nukes in Belarus could be a signal to the Europeans to stay out and keep staying out regardless of what happens in Kyiv.

Hell no... If they are there we better act like he is gonna use them... If the last couple of days has taught us anything Putin, its that. You cant "he wont because logic xyz" ... If the nukes are there, he intends to use them at some point. 100%.
