Zelensky needs to stop communicating with the outside until the Russians leave. They're going to radiolocate him to a block or two and then just drop everything they have on it. Putin is nearing his make or break line, don't give him any windows of opportunity. That could be the way out for Putin he'll take, "the regime of Nazis and drug addicts (?) has been removed, victorious Russian forces are now returning home."

That can be made to happen without the world losing Zelensky and those monstrous testicles of his.
A clever man would use that as bait to trap more Russians/make them expend ordinance in a wasteful manner.

You can't occupy a hostile, West supplied, country of 40 million using 190,000 troops. You just can't. That's why I thought he had to have been bluffing, but he was really dumb enough to go all in on such a losing hand. Either his propaganda people or his military leadership lied to him about their capabilities, because otherwise they'd have to explain where all the money he spent on them went.

The Swedish Government just announced it's sending 135K field rations, 5K helmets, 5K Body protection gear and 5K Anti-tank weapons (Pansarskott 86, known as AT4 outside Sweden). This is a substantial part from the stockpile we have.

Come to think of it, if part of Putin's invasion plan was to put so much pressure on Biden that he would make very serious mistakes in response to the invasion so that his stooge Trump and the Repub apparatchiks under his influence would/could take advantage of, well that backfired in such hilarious fashion the moment Trump opened his yapper and declared again as he often did before his love and admiration for Putin's contrived tough guy persona.

I just wonder how many of Trump's grass root cult disciples who have their media info filtered through FOX have the slightest notion how Trump humiliated himself and the party he leads by saying what he did about Putin.

Germany probably has one of the best constitutions to prevent their history to repeat itself.

But let's just say if you decide to elect the Orange Moron once again, I'm actually very much in favor of Europe improving its defense capabilities significantly...

I think Europe will be doing that regardless. This is a wakeup call to the west in general that spending 1-1.5% of GDP on the military is insufficient. I lump Canada in there too if we have any intention of assisting our allies in a crisis.

Most likely Putin was hoping for “shock and awe” strategy to force defenders to retreat, making widespread strikes in depth to achieve it. Ukranians would despair that this conflict isn’t just in the east, it’s everywhere. Fearing there’s no safe place for them, they’d agitate for regime change to save themselves. He installs his stooge regime and Putin waits it out to see if Trump gets elected again. I’m struggling to see how this ends with Ukraine being less of a threat to Russian national security after this war than it was before. Putin has erred in his assumptions on how the Ukrainians and the west would respond.

It seems there is a morale problem, a training problem, a leadership problem, and a will-to-fight problem. None of these are factors that can be easily or quickly fixed. The Ukrainian people have overthrown Russian puppet regimes twice in the last twenty years. They’re not going to roll over for another puppet just because he promises to make the trains run on time, especially not after what Russia has done to them now.

I should hope not, but I also don't believe live streaming connections are required to alert the Russians. Their EW hardware is painfully competent, I think they can detect commercial devices powered on within a certain distance, it's just not terribly accurate.

Cracks are showing in the oligarchy.

It would be true Russian irony if none of the democracies prevailed but Putin was taken down by his own props. How many billionaires can he toss in jail or kill before the rest want to protect their money and lives in the worst way?

These may be goals to some degree, but Russia also has serious reason to keep Ukraine down. Right now their energy pipelines go through Ukraine, and Ukraine has a large amount of natural gas and shale oil that they are trying to keep Western oil giants from building and maintaining the infrastructure to compete on the market. Strategically, Ukraine being friendly to the West or god forbid part of NATO opens up a huge front for invasion of Russia should war in Europe break out.

Don't get me wrong. Russia has no legitimate purpose to violate Ukraine's sovereignty. They are just getting the quick death now instead of the slow one. Apparently NS2 wasn't good enough for them to have an acceptable future. Or at least not good enough for Putin.

AT-4s are not in the same class as a Javelin, but it's good Ukraine will have options so they don't waste Javelins. Plenty of hardened non tank targets they can shoot too.

Rations are always welcome and its great that volunteers might get some body protection to wear too. Bravo Sweden.

Ukraine and her allies can keep this up longer than Putin can keep up his invasion. Fun fact: Russia went from Afghan invasion to fall of the Soviet Union in only 12 years. Tick tock shorty.
