Hahaha, so Erdogan paid some dues? ))

PS - I love that report from the burning warehouse that evacuation was delayed because the security forces were stopping people at checkups for stolen goods. Bwahaha. I like Russian priorities. Human life is on last place, under goods value

There has been a lot of complaining from Russian channels that Ukrainian FPV drone attacks have increased greatly. This is likely an AFU response to being low on artillery ammo and trying to compensate.

Relatedly new Russian armor technique spotted in occupied Ukraine:

....Biological ablative armor? That's technically new I guess.

I guess each very cheap to operate disposable orc is wearing body armor and each one of them would react violently to being hit and each one should be slinging AK's so each one of them is an autonomous remote voice controlled reactive crew served anti-aircraft gun so it all checks out functionality wise when looking at it from a Russian weapons tech expert's point of view. /s

Unconfirmed reports that Ukraine may have shot down an A-50U and an Il-22 over the Sea of Azov.

Thats another big tab if the VKS actually lost an A-50.
Latest updates reporting the IL-22 was damaged but landed while requesting emergency ambulance/fire engine on landing, while the A-50U (Russian AWACS clone) still claimed as shot down / all communication lost.

Still only lower-level Ukrainian sources (based on monitoring air traffic control chatter), no official comments from either Ukraine or Russia yet.

Edit: Russia only had at most 10 of the A-50 AWACS in operation, including only 6 or so of the upgraded A-50U.
Edit 2 Ukrainian news source update:

Some talk about a black swan event making an appearance in Russia at some point. Seems Rybar has made a map showing all the places that have lost heating, electricity and/or sewage issues. The map is in Russian, but has a 'strong' title;
The title says “municipal utilities disaster in Moscow area and other Russian cities, January 2024.”
...
The word “КАТАСТРОФА” (catastrophy, disaster) is quite strong in russian language, russians don’t throw this word around lightly.

Some other bits and pieces from the thread;
We know that there are at least three factors contributing to russian utilities problems.
- russian budget increasingly allocated to aggression war, which means spending reduced in other areas, including utilities maintenance.
- What little budget is left continues to be stolen because corruption.
- There is no staff available for utilities maintenance and repairs because they have been mobilized and meatcubed. I’m not making this up, it’s a fact, not just wishful thinking. We have seen reports from russian Telegram how in some cities there are literally no skilled service workers available for utilities repairs.
I think russia is heading for some kind of black swan event that will have a real impact, and these utility problems are a contributing factor to that. I have no idea what kind of event or when exactly it will happen–the whole point of black swan events is that no one knows. Winter continues for a few more months, and we can expect to see more of this.
russian government has been successful with containing criticism of russian invasion of Ukraine because it doesn’t affect most people directly and is more on the abstract/political level.I think they will have a harder time censoring talk about cold and flooded apartments.

I came across a post earlier about a Russian report that looked into how much cash is required to fix the civilian infrastructure across Russia... $200billion. Something like $2bil a year is currently dedicated for this in the budget.

Russia is being run down.

Likely orbit pattern of the A-50 from today. If AFU moved a surface to air system armed with PAC-2 GEMs into Zapo oblast this would are pretty doable. That S-300 system mated with Patriot launchers could be a prime suspect.

3 factors from my understanding. Long term neglect (some of the main lines that have broken dates from the mid-70s), lack of skilled workers (some have been drafted, others have gone into the arms industry) and finally, lack of money over the last few years. The war is all, civilian infrastructure is 'unimportant'.

On the notion of a lack of skilled workers. I came across a report of a broken sewer mains in Russia. They can't find the break in the line and its been broken for a week.

Joint Utilities management between Russia and Texas. There's several reasons Republicans absolutely love working with Russians.

A Wildberries (Amazon clone) warehouse burned down in St Petersburg. There are some interesting stories around it. It seems that 'new' Russians are not quite so submissive as standard superior Russians...

There is a bit of a coverup going on atm by some of the bigwigs;

Source

The problem with the line that "the building was not put into operation", is that footage from the start of the fire shows large amounts of goods in massive racks and large numbers of staff present;

It became a rather massive fire;

Russian World(tm)

well obviously it was @Young Grasshopper doing the burning because he hates it when citizens are kidnapped for conscription...oh wait, no, he doesn't really. He was the one at the warehouse shoving employees out onto the streets for the kidnapping.

because he's a fucking cvnt, you see.

Fighterbomber confirms the loss. All the talk about friendly fire on some channels is just to cover their own embarrassment. the Il-22 made it to an airfield but was heavily damaged and can't be repaired.

Ukraine very likely downed it with a PAC-2 GEM having scooted a system rather close to the front for this particular mission. The A-50U is a $300M+ aircraft that cannot be easily replaced, is very limited in number, and is going to be missed when the F-16s show up. Use of the remaining fleet will have to be adjusted to preserve them likely giving Ukraine more freedom to operate.
