Russian GDP grew 3% in 2023 but that's because of the war's effects on the economy. There are a lot of problems under the surface with revenue, government fiscal condition, labor shortages, inflation, and high interest rates however.
And this gives Putin a massive incentive to end the war... Er I mean to never end the war... Are you crazy? The economy would crash!

He knows there are major league problems underneath that number. The demographic crisis alone is catastrophic.

Hell yeah. Not quite the legs of a Taurus, but those are current issue 1000 pounders with better stealth probably. Ukrainian pilots should be thrilled.

ISIS caught a bunch. Didn't work out well for them at all.

Also aren't they burning through their foreign currency reserves? If/when they run out that's... a big problem.

Correct and they've had to suspend some exports due to AFU attacks on Russian infrastructure which is hitting revenues even worse.

I heard somebody mention that Russia is using their gold reserves to pay for items overseas. Because of sanctions they will fly a plane with gold to a country and use that to pay for the items they want instead of using the banking system. The seller can then melt down the gold bars and the original source cannot be traced. It isn't as efficient as using bank transfers but allows Russia to import items that are under embargo. Not sure how much truth there is to this.

It's possible. Who is going to take rubles? Not a lot of places. This problem exists in the other direction where countries are settling in local currency instead of dollars like India paying in rupee when it buys oil.

Seems like America's biggest industries these days are death and destruction.

Some of America's biggest exports are weapons. No wonder America is actively looking to start wars all over the world.

Two years into this war and you guys are still hopeful for a collapse of the Russian economy. Hilarious. As long as Russia has energy(and they have lots of it), don’t expect the collapse you guys are hoping for.

Hey in other news, looks like Avdiivka is going to fall soon. Just another ‘strategically unimportant’ city right guys?

Russians are thanking America and its Western vassals for the ridiculous sanctions. Russia has found other markets which have a better growth potential than the West, which seems to be very much stagnant. For example, Russian trade with China has exploded thanks to the ridiculous sanctions. Also India and many other Global South countries, many of which have been victims of American and Western colonialism. So if you look at the result of the ridiculous sanctions, they seem to have hurt Germany much more. And Germany is the center of the European economy. Maybe America is trying to deindustrialize Germany so they will have one less competitor in Europe? Who knows.

Plus, you have the crazy climate policies which the Western leftists only want to enforce on Western countries! Not China or India, two huge polluting countries! They are now going after hard working farmers in Europe because of these things. But China can build several coal plants each month and the Western climate people are quiet. Absolutely ridiculous.

Tell me you don't comprehend the breadth of the American economy without telling me.

America loves war, period. That's their biggest export these days, along with regime changes and coups and causing chaos in other countries. I know about the American economy. It is mainly a service economy with a $34 trillion in debt. Even China produces more cars than America.

Still the biggest economy in the world though. But in order to remain that way, you have to invest in your own country rather than bombing poor people halfway across the world.

At the current rates of loss every Russian male will probably be dead by the time they make the Dnipro.

A country with four times our population manufactures more cars than us? This is not exactly a shocking fact.

Ukraine is getting desperate recruiting men, often times by force. It is a bad situation over there. Russia is nowhere near as bad. It's gotten so bad that the Ukrainians want the Ukrainian refugees in other European countries to be sent back home to fight.

I guess Russian shovels have been effective. Even the Russia airforce, made out of shovels seems to be doing alright since Ukraine has no equivalent ... I don't know, I just don't see the Western talking points to have any reality in them.

Its their growth that matters and finding new markets. So when the Western media cries about the Chinese threat, what they mean is that the Western world is fearful of a strong Chinese economic threat.

Wut? Russia did their own mobilization and might again after the "election" in March. Of course Ukraine with a population of 40 some million is going to be at a manpower disadvantage against a county of 140 million.

Fortunately we have ways to largely negate this advantage:
