Another reason the Chinese are probably never going to sell weapons to Russia is that doing so would expose their systems to analysis. Leaving their real capabilities ambiguous is, as Russia has discovered, more effective strategically.

This is less of a concern to North Korea though because they don't care about accuracy as long as it is likely to hit somewhere in Seoul.

This argument has been going on for a while in EU circles. There are apparently identified external supplies of 155mm shells, reportedly in the neighborhood of 400k shells, that can be obtained but internal bloc politics make using EU facility to purchase them problematic. However this would not stop interested European countries from independently pooling their resources to purchase them for Ukraine which may yet come to pass.

Given the opposition of at least Greece and Cyprus I have quite strong suspicions about where this ammunition is.

United States military budget is rather large.
As a member of NATO, it would be up to the President's discretion for how we spend some of our $877 billion. And I doubt he needs permission to aid NATO within our means.
Hint Hint.

If Biden wanted to get shit done, just provide the arms to NATO.
If Congress wants to play games, then play stupid and get the job done.

Between artillery, drones, mines, and ATGMs it seems pretty conceivable that, properly supplied, Ukraine could exhaust Russian vehicle stocks inside the next couple years. With new production representing a very small portion of their output this is a bit of a problem.

House bolts for recess, no aid found.

If this gets dicked around with until March passes and no elections held in Ukraine it's going to become politically radioactive to pass an aid package for Ukraine.

"Yeah so, guys, listen, it's gonna be OK, they have good reasons for abandoning Democracy. It's for a good cause." Have fun selling ice to Eskimos. If I was a self-serving politician (which many are) particularly with shorter term limits in the House versus the Senate, that's one bill I wouldn't want to see come within a hundred miles of me.

When the House returns foreign aid won't even be a front-burner issue -- they have a government shutdown to contend with 1st.

And really, who are we actually kidding here? If we, the USA, wanted Ukraine to win, they'd have already won.

Ukraine needs to hold elections. No ... they have to hold elections to save face with the collective West. It's going to fuck them if they do not. "Well XYZ nations, countries haven't during a time of crisis." That's great, today we have modern technologies, solutions. That's banking on people being stupid and not knowing better. Zero excuses.

You're one of the people who doesn't want to spend much time thinking about that whole casus belli thing, we get it.

There are Russians occupying significant amounts of Ukrainian voting areas. This is indeed a very good excuse not to have Ukrainian civilians gather in large numbers, in defiance of Putin's occupation. Murder tends to affect the turn out, no?

Zelenskyy has overwhelming support, don't worry your pretty little head about it.

He seems to be doing fine on the diplomatic stage too, bilateral security agreements with major world powers are always fun, right? He understands he may be waiting until next Nov. before that American good good starts showing up in quantity again. I'm sure we'll see elections scheduled promptly once all the voting districts have been cleansed of orcs. The West could expedite this were it not for Team Treason here in the States, that's the group with zero excuses. I'm good with letting Ukraine decide what Ukraine needs to do. Real Americans in Congress still have a few tricks up their sleeves I believe, so we may see magat obstructionism and subservience to Putin end soon, or at least get limited.

Americans want Ukraine to win. Magats don't. The distinction is important and you shouldn't ignore it.

Russia is on pace for 200,000 casualties per year.
You said it yourself, 143 million people.
As long as they start having children, indefinitely.

Not looking great as their current rate is far below replacement and heading down. Their demographics aren't as skewed as China, but they're both heading for calamity.

Indeed. AFU is going through Russian armor like the stuff is made of cardboard. Can you imagine? Drones and mines everywhere. Riding in some cramped piece of shit with no real optics, no ERA, maybe it's not even new, maybe it helped put down Hungarians in the 50s. Just being thrown at Kupiansk like a ball of ground hamburger. Yikes.

But yes, it's been recently estimated by the IISS that Russia can maintain these levels of attrition for roughly 2-3 years.

So these 10 year agreements with places like the UK and France really help. The Brits are going to start doing a dedicated drone supply program for Ukraine too I heard, very cool. France's deal with Kyiv will reportedly look a lot like the one London worked out with them, and I hope they start focusing on drones too.

I hope we start seeing more new commitments to Ukraine in the coming weeks, thanks to Il Douche flapping his piehole, getting the House to mimic his subservience to Putin.

Russia isn't holding more than 51% of Ukraine. If they were, I could see your point. Just don't count or hold votes in occupied areas. Last I checked Democrats are down with mail-in balloting. They could even implement an online system. Re-vote after total liberation if it suits them. In the interim, there's not a good reason to toss Democracy out the window in this day and age. If they don't it will feed the news cycle with headlines of "Ukraine abandons Democracy" to "Fuhrer Zelensky." I used to be in the news biz, sensationalism garners ad revenue. It will happen and it's avoidable. Obviously nothing I say will make any difference, I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Your standards over percentages don't mean anything to the Ukrainians I'm afraid, and I suspect were you from there your views on indulging the whims of an invader would be a lot different. When warcriminals murder, torture and rape your people it tends to make you not want to indulge the conditions they want to impose. Last I checked Democrats were for free, fair open elections. If you want "Only some get to vote" you'll need to check with the GQP, sorry.

No one in Ukraine is tossing democracy out the window, that's just your reactionary need to promote an unhelpful narrative talking. You have less reality to deal with than they do, put simply. It's a pause due to invasion, not some nebulous poorly planned bullshit about fraudulent votes and involving fake electors after all. Ukrainians are still very much fighting for their lives, I find your lack of regard for their priorities strange. Don't worry though, non state media shouldn't fall for that nonsense. Calling the Jewish guy who lost uncles fighting Hitler a "Fuhrer" will be the sole domain of idiots and nobodies I imagine. Not even weaksauce, just weak. Ukraine is fighting so they can get back to having real elections, that's kind of the point - like not getting executed or sent to a re education camp, en masse.

Ukraine wants to join NATO. Do me a favor and use those news biz skills to review the requirements of NATO membership, then explain how being the dictator you fear helps Zelenskyy acheive that goal. Easy peasy squeeze that lemon...

And hey, I also disagree on your last sentence. You can make a difference with me, just show your work. Not emulating our resident cyka, also highly recommended.

Seems Russians are being arrested for putting flowers at impromptu memorials to Navalny. Reports of 100's of Russians arrested.

There can be no alternatives to Putin. None!

Video of an 82 year old Russian woman flipping the bird on Putin
“Putin is a traitor to Russia

Hundreds of thousands of our soldiers are dead. He’s killing Ukrainian children too.We need to rise up against him.

There’s 140 mln of us.

I’m not afraid. I’m too old for that.”

My prior post on timetravel, if you had the chance to stop Hitler before the evil extrapolated into exponential territory, would you not do it? So maybe we’re looking at Putin and we do in fact all of us posses a time travel device, only limited to going forward one second per second, still, that is not nothing.
All I am saying is that…. Nip it in the butt?

Putin got tired of waiting. Nalvany was healthy looking and smiling the day before he died, they said he was cracking jokes. Just suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness, then died. Huh.

Sounds like he caught the correct dosage that time. Like I said last December about Putin and his jarred specimens, "...if they hang around long enough, he will hit FF." I wonder how Kara-Murza is doing.

Get mad Russia. Start killing these bastards and setting shit on fire. Works for the Ukrainians.

Sounds like we get to make a Nalvany Act, take another piss in some oligarch vodka. Maybe name something near the Russian consulate after the guy, to keep with the Magnitsky standard already set.

There is a rumour from the prison service that the camera system's software was upgraded just a few days ago. Due to bugs in this upgrade there is no video footage available covering the circumstances of his death.

Just a coincidence ofcause.

this logic is so fucking stupid......

lets look for example at the United Kingdom during WW2 , at no time did Germany occupy any of the isles yet they suspended elections for 4 years. Try and rub a few brain cells together and think about why.

And to the point did the USA stop supplying the UK because of it?
