Ukraine should be receiving a large quantity of 155 from the EU in March I believe, right around the corner. Was supposed to be a million but I think it's going to be 600k now? Still an immense help, they should be able to stretch that batch out for awhile.

And then there's the Czechs who "found 800,000 artillery shells of 155 and 122 millimeter caliber for Ukraine. In the coming weeks, they may be sent to the Ukrainian army, states Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic."

The Lean Time will pass. By next year Ukraine should have several million rounds per year heading it's way from multiple foreign production centers, and then it's own plants will be operating more as well. I'm more interested in how Russia will replace it's shrinking supply of vintage Soviet airframes and naval vessels. Also, how many truck tires does it take to completely cover an A-50U? Been pondering that one a bit.

Damn straight. A SEPV3 is the only tank I'd want to be in during a fight, also the last one I'd want to have to fight. I can't blame Yuri for running from them, I'd do the same thing if I was in his Adidas. Russians want people to think T-90 mimicking America's ammo locker confers Abrams like crew survivability. Problem is there are still multiple rounds in that auto loader. Maybe no turret toss, but when it gets lanced like a big metal pimple from 4km away something is still cooking off in the mangled crews' faces.

Russian APS is dogshit, also disabled if hatches are open IIRC. Isn't T-90M the only Russian tank with AC for the crew? I forget, but I know a tank with no AC in hot regions is going to have hatches open, like, always. Seems like that might be pertinent to certain African, Middle Eastern and Asian armies.

Apparently the 120k rounds of 122mm ammo the Germans bought was found in Bulgaria, per German media.

Germany is conducting "discreet negotiations" to procure artillery ammunition from India, which is estimated to have "several hundred thousand rounds" stored in stockpiles, Der Spiegel reported on Feb. 25.

The European Union's top diplomat, Josep Borrell, said on Feb. 19 that he has urged member states to procure ammunition for Ukraine outside the bloc if this source of supply is "better, cheaper, and quicker."

Kyiv is facing critical ammunition shortages, as $61 billion in funding from the U.S. remains stuck in Congress, causing defense aid deliveries to run dry. Reports suggest Ukraine could face a catastrophic shortage of supplies like shells and air defenses within weeks.

Der Spiegel reported that Berlin is looking to Arab states, as well as countries in the Balkans and Africa, for new supplies of ammunition for Ukraine.

The German military is currently looking to stockpiles in countries outside the EU, with a group of military officers, diplomats, and civil servants meeting in Berlin every two weeks to assess which "which countries can be approached that may still have ammunition stocks."

Negotiations are being conducted with New Delhi in a "discreet" way given its "friendly relations with Moscow," Der Spiegel said.

Indian 155mm has been seen occasionally in videos from the front so some may be coming via 3rd countries.

You can't really cover the launcher with camo. But this is why the system is distributed not centralized like Russian ones.

The other day I watched a video of Russians trying to pull an abandoned, damaged Ukrainian M113 out of the mud.

One of those Whoa moments for me. How shitty do things have to be for "a military superpower" when it's troops see a beat to hell, inoperable M113 and think, I need that.

Actually, i think it is more pitiful than you think. If you remember from earlier in the way they are more likely individuals trying to make a buck by stealing anything they can find and selling it for scrapes.... it is amazing they don't disassemble their own vehicals to sell as scrapes on the black market

Also in his speech Macron said he would drop France's objection to buying artillery ammo outside the bloc, endorsing the Czech plan.
Just gotta pay off Greece and Cyprus somehow since I think the bulk of the 155mm they want is in Turkey...

If I was a meat orc waiting my turn to be turned into hamburger, I'd try to salvage that APC and make a trade with the AFU by allowing myself and my squad to be taken prisoner (with perks of course) so I can sit out the rest of the war and avoid getting turned into minefield jerky like the rest of my comrades have and eventually will. Odds seem to favor the former than the latter.

It's the least I could do for a dictator crime boss that thinks my life and the lives of my countrymen are worth the price of a Ukrainian bullet through our heads.
