Russia is gonna die in Ukraine.
Russia is preparing to die much further west than Ukraine.
All they need to succeed is US's continued withdrawal from the world stage.
Russia has more bodies than Europe has ammo.

Russia producing three times more artillery shells than US and Europe combined

Russia is producing about 250,000 artillery munitions per month, or about 3 million a year, according to NATO intelligence estimates of Russian defense production shared with CNN, as well as sources familiar with Western efforts to arm Ukraine. Collectively, the US and Europe have the capacity to generate only about 1.2 million munitions annually to send to Kyiv, a senior European intelligence official told CNN.
The US military set a goal to produce 100,000 rounds of artillery a month by the end of 2025 — less than half of the Russian monthly output — and even that number is now out of reach with $60 billion in Ukraine funding stalled in Congress

Most people with insight don't really think this is likely and also the figures for the west do not include Soviet caliber shells being produced in Central/Eastern Europe. Weird to count 122mm shells supposedly made by Russia but not ones made by Romania, Bulgaria, etc.

Fucking out of touch cross dresser.

Absolutely. Courage? How about the pope has the fucking courage to call out genocidal invasion and war crimes?! What a prick.

The Catholic Church wants to recreate it's surrender to a tyrant bent on ethnic cleansing, where have we seen this before. Fuck that pissant pope and all his child molesting, genocide loving friends. Hurry up and get mummified padre.

Younger folks, take note: organized religion is not your friend.

If Ukraine falls, Europe will break under a flood of refugees. And any Ukrainian who did not flee will become meat for the next campaign.
All Putin needs is Trump to ensure the necessary chaos.

I really don't get why he decided to weigh in at this. Up till now, I really liked this pope.

Yeah I was surprised as well. I'm pretty much indifferent when it comes to religious shit if not apprehensive but this pope seemed to largely have his head screwed on straight as much as one might hope for. Then he goes and says some stuff like that and I'm like damn, bro. Did you just wake up, or, what, because that's heavy. And like it's the damn pope, the leader of the Catholic church which I'm aware has more than a couple dozen members so I begin theorizing global implications etc etc lol.

They beached it and then used it for CC? What a bunch of fucking idiots.

Immobile, unarmored, super visible, probably still got fuel in it... *facepalm*

You guys want to fight or you want to drink? So glad you can't pick one.

It is unimaginable.

Like...just wow, and for all that is holy...just wow once more.

I read either here or on a reddit thread that there were plans in place/being acted on from RU's black sea fleet to scuttle some of them to use as long range artillery since they were functionally useless as boats (and likely to get popped soon anyhow). I mean it's a short-term solution with a very expensive long-term prospect I guess. I'd be curious if they actually got anything useful out of it though.

Same. Putin owns the Orthodox church, that much is true, but I don't get why the Vatican is trying to help Russia conqueror Ukraine. He's aware of the atrocities committed thus far. Is this kompromat or what?

You'd think they'd want to avoid a repeat of their cowardice of the 30s and 40s. Bringing up courage, to the Ukrainians? Yeah go fuck yourself padre.

The Black Sea fleet is indeed useless as a navy, no argument there. Still. You can kinda get away with that with a tank because it gets buried, except for the turret. They'll try to obscure it, but even then still talking about a sitting duck.

Sounds like a shitty plan to me, even for the very short term. Big targets with no mobility in a war with drones and missiles everywhere? lol

I think most of that "we should scuttle and use them as artillery" was just moaning from Russians because the fleet is pretty useless right now and they keep losing expensive/difficult to replace ships.

I was hoping to see more naval pieces put on land vehicles. That franken artillery with the anti sub mortar launcher had a certain je ne sais quoi.

Because nothing says military superpower like needing to weld 50 year old naval weapons onto 60 year old tank hulls.

oh come on, just because the Pope is a quisling does not all organized religion bad. Logical fallacy Anecdotal Evidence.

He does not represent all catholic lay people who have their own views, they are not automatons.

There is a reason the Anglican church exists. Which is basically catholic without the Pope, without the guilt, and without the excessive central control. ( think more symbolic and less actual )

And lastly, if a person wants to, they can find liberal organized religion these days with very little effort. "All may, none must, some should." You they want less organized religion? go for it. There are many ways to the divine. Atheism is certainly one way to the divine*.

*what is the divine, really? Organized religion might be one way. But it surely is not the only. Perhaps to be divine is to embody the virtues of the divine, in mind, thought and deed. What prevents an atheist from achieving that?
