oh come on, just because the Pope is a quisling does not all organized religion bad. Logical fallacy Anecdotal Evidence.

He does not represent all catholic lay people who have their own views, they are not automatons.

There is a reason the Anglican church exists. Which is basically catholic without the Pope, without the guilt, and without the excessive central control. ( think more symbolic and less actual )

And lastly, if a person wants to, they can find liberal organized religion these days with very little effort. "All may, none must, some should." You they want less organized religion? go for it. There are many ways to the divine. Atheism is certainly one way to the divine*.
If the commissioner (or equivalent head position) of a police department was corrupt, would you argue the rest of the department was fine?

oh come on, just because the Pope is a quisling does not make the rest of us bad.

First off, he hardly represents all catholics who have their own views, they are not automatons.

And 2ndly, there is a reason the Anglican church exists. Which is basically catholic without the Pope, without the guilt, and without the excessive central control. ( think more symbolic and less actual )

That's not the correct usage of that term I'm afraid. The pope is Polish. Represents the Vatican only. He can't sell out Ukraine - only insult their dignity, sacrifices, and desire to live apparently. Pretending the killing and war stops at a surrender is such a disconnect from reality I can't believe he went there. I can hear Ukrainians embracing atheism from here in the States.

Well, he is literally the head of the Catholic Church, but your attempt to minimize his influence is noted. I suppose all catholics will sound less like silent automatons once they start condemning that kind of talk en masse, no? Can't wait. In the meantime, I'm glad there's a scrappy lil Jewish guy at the wheel in Ukraine, holding the line against the 21st Hitler. I think he and his people are teaching a master class in courage and catholics of all persuasions could learn from it.

Sorry, your Anglicans have absolutely nothing to do the pope's appalling display of support for genocidal fascism, so I don't care.

I cannot believe I find myself defending a ffing Pope of all things.

He already back tracked. Which is why we are not going to see any rebellion.

As for the Pope, I view him sympathetically, he has tried to push reform through as quick as he can. He screwed up here massively, but at least he is playing damage control already.

The problem with the catholic church is it has way to many people following it, and when they leave it they do not leave it for something nice, they leave it for evangelical hell. So yea, lets not burn the Catholic church down here. Think South America, Africa, those places.

It really is a force of moderation and more good then evil throughout most of the world. Just take a look at option B.

It is not that he is selling out his country.

He is selling out everything good the church stands for. Love, Mercy, Justice, Peace, Community, and etc.

Because the unconditional surrender would bring none of those.

That is why he was a quisling.

I know I am stretching the definition:
"a traitor who collaborates with an enemy force occupying their country."
by stating Putin and his regime is the enemy, occupying or preventing them.

Reportedly this strike killed a well known Russian war blogger.
And General Teplinsky apparently. The location was given up by captured Kadyrovites apparently.

Edit: seems the story is confusing... the war blogger "13" was shot by Kadyrovites. So I am not sure how the destroyed ship got involved with "13".

It is now unclear what may have happened. Russians playing games maybe.

All this German noise about their Taurus missile. I'm beginning to think that it doesn't work or not well.

Russia is preparing to die much further west than Ukraine.
All they need to succeed is US's continued withdrawal from the world stage.
Russia has more bodies than Europe has ammo.

Russia producing three times more artillery shells than US and Europe combined

Russia is producing about 250,000 artillery munitions per month, or about 3 million a year, according to NATO intelligence estimates of Russian defense production shared with CNN, as well as sources familiar with Western efforts to arm Ukraine. Collectively, the US and Europe have the capacity to generate only about 1.2 million munitions annually to send to Kyiv, a senior European intelligence official told CNN.
The US military set a goal to produce 100,000 rounds of artillery a month by the end of 2025 — less than half of the Russian monthly output — and even that number is now out of reach with $60 billion in Ukraine funding stalled in Congress
And you can add NK production on top of what Russia can churn out.
Russian artillery reaction time has also improved to 1-3 minutes down from something like an hour because of better fire-control network equipment and training. Ukraine needs to get its shell shortage problem fixed asap or its going to be in deeper trouble than it is already. It also hasn't got its new recruitment plan sorted out for 2024 yet.

Maybe Germany is still mentally shattered from WW2. And Russian occupation for half a century.
Some of them are probably terrified of war, or still loyal to Russia. Regardless, we should not be surprised by their paralysis. The last war destroyed them body and soul.
