I would prefer de-escalation.

But as long as we're going to engage in proxy warfare I guess well just hope for the best out of it. As the politicians in charge prefer to stay the course.

____________

so actually you don't care about the only real peaceful and moral solution.

what are you even here to argue about?

I think everyone wants de-escalation, just most people correctly recognize that you get there through a mountain of Russian corpses and a wrecked Russian Armed Forces.
Imagine being an Orc supporter, and thinking we must REWARD the invader for their aggression. As if that will bring a lasting peace.
Those people must truly suck, and hopefully be waiting in line to become meat for Vlad the Butcher. The genocidal maniac they so dearly love.

Any person who thinks Russia had any valid justification, however minuscule, means this person is a Russian, a fool, or a paid stooge. Probably all three.

There was zero way of ending this without Ukraine being completely subjugated by Russia and turned into a vassal state, other than over the dead bodies of Russian invaders.

Any non-idiot can easily see one man's megalomaniac desires of rebuilding the Russian empire is to blame for these deaths. And at this point, I don't see how Ukraine can end this while retaining their own sovereignty without said mountain of Russian invader's corpses.

Sitting back and allowing Genocide is what you call, de-escalation?

No. A REAL de-escalation is to guarantee no taking other people's land by force. To KILL the invader. To KILL all invaders. So they stop their hostile aggressive acts. And instead choose to live. In peace.

Peace is only ever achieved by killing the invader.

You would argue otherwise just to appease the blood thirsty butcher of Moscow.
But why?
Why do you want dead Europeans?
That is Russia's position.

It is our duty and honor to oppose the invader. To stop them, and to kill them if they do not leave.

De-escalation would be great! All Russia has to do to fully de-escalate is to stop their illegal invasion.

It’s funny how here yet again, much like with American revanchists only the left/west has agency. It is taken as a given that Russia will act irresponsibly and so any escalation is the West’s fault because we know better.

As you said Russia can only be met with the language they understand - violence. Their word is worthless so any agreement made with them should be done with the understanding that they will violate it as soon as it’s convenient.

Seems Putin is running out of people to trust. Just fired a bunch more from the Defense Dept and have now engaged nepotism as a proper governing tactic.

I guess the Little Tsar is feeling the pressure on his trip to North Korea.

That should both worry and embolden the people around Putin who feel they can no longer trust him. Perfect!

The more besieged you are, the tighter you pull the circle of acolytes around yourself, the more the half-ass suck-up leeches that were hanging in there for the freebies take a hike for greener pastures. This winnowing process keeps going on until all you're left with are fanatics, dumbass sycophants that got nowhere else to go and family members that really don't want to be there but suddenly realize it's too late to cash in their immunity chits. Time and time again through the ages this process repeats itself over and over again. It looks like Putin and Trump have boarding passes lined up for the same listing garbage scow headed for one of their asylum vacation homes in China, North Korea, Cuba or Venezuela.

Russian special forces kill Islamic State-linked hostage-takers

"Russian special forces have freed two guards and killed several men linked to Islamic State who had taken them hostage at a detention centre in the southern city of Rostov, the prison service said.

Automatic gunfire could be heard in footage published on Russian Telegram channels.

“The criminals were eliminated,” Russia’s federal penitentiary service said in a statement on Sunday, adding that a “special operation” had taken place to free the hostages"."

^^^ The Rooskies have/are going to have their hands full on more than one front, especially from the eastern stans.

"Now this might strike some viewers as harsh, but I believe everyone involved in this story should die."

"We eliminated the terrorists. Also 2/3rds of the hostages, just to be sure."

That seems to be about the correct historical casualty ratio for Russian rescue ops yet they occasionally seem to want to outshine themselves when they pull off a rescue attempt that kills many more hostages than the hostage takers.

Remember the Chechen hostage incident circa 2002 when 130 hostages died from inhaling a gas the "Rescuers" released into the theater?

Embellishment on my part, admittedly. I don't think the ratio was that bad but yeah, they flooded the place with a fentanyl cocktail knowing full well a lot of hostages would die. Was really sad, a lot of women and children didn't make it.

Not exactly Sayeret Metkal those Russians.

China's expansion has begun!
Thanks to Vlad the Butcher, Russia grows smaller.
A small start, but a start nevertheless. Let's keep it going.

Just throwing this one back out there.
Totally agree, but Russia is a stand-out in that nobody may aid them. Like seriously imagine the scenario, let's say 12 months from now. Russia has lost Crimea and the Donbas region, has a large scale of whatever trash is left basically parked at ~40km from the border with Ukraine because Putin can't figure out what to do with the situation (probably claiming the fighting is continuing, defending mother Russia from NATO, whatever). China's population has declined yet another year, financial prospects have dropped precipitously from the rapid de-globalization of the supply chain, and shit's not looking like it's going to change much on that front, so Poo bear just pulls the trigger and rapid-deploys a hundred thousand troops to take everything south/east of the Amur river in an attempt to secure an even greater hold over the Pacific. Is literally anyone going to come to Russia's aid at this point? What are the actual odds that a single one of their nuclear weapons actually works? What happens to that country when it's realized that they don't?

Don’t bother disrupting the group think bud. They think this conflict started in 2022, and will ignore the history of this conflict.

Just let them keep jerking off to Russian oil depots on fire and wait for the Russians to finish the job.

Into the golf cart, comrade. There is a machine gun nest that's barrels are getting too cool.

No, we think this current conflict started in 2014 when Russia invaded Ukraine in violation of its commitment to respect its territorial integrity.

Remember, no agreement with Russia is worth the paper it’s printed on. The entire country is filled with degenerate liars.
