It's been non stop getting worse in Russia for several years now and I keep an open mind.
I noticed Moscow Times admitted there's been a surge in child sexual assaults across the nation, thanks to all the deviants and criminals recruited for Ukraine who fought then went home. "Depraved Acts" up 62% from normal levels. Rape and such, 483%.

Of course Ukraine is going to push for it every chance they get. Russia only respects strength, not agreements. Getting into NATO solves the strength problem. There are some in Ukraine who would like NATO to bend a few rules, make an exception with some asterisks involved. I get that, we did it for Germany after all (they were admitted with East Germany still a Soviet puppet state) but that was a different time and there wasn't an active war going on. I'd still say sorry guys. You can have your German-esque accommodation when Russians are no longer occupying Ukrainian soil. Ideally by then all the free press, democratic and judiciary requirements are checked off. Some of the economic and financial stuff could be waived or delayed I expect.
If a beat to hell Russia has been ejected from all of Ukraine and still wants to play toughguy, they would then be attacking NATO. Either whomever is in charge over there gets retired by his own people, or Russia gets to experience the real thing. They join the This Is Why America Doesn't Have Univ Healthcare club, what survives the Finns and Poles anyway.
