institute for study of war's George Barros on the kursk situation
AFU in kursk is serving multiple objectives so even if there isnt one big victory, it still affects russia's ability to fight elsewhere.
to capitalize on the push in donetsk you stagger your waves: one wave pushes and takes territory and then stops and replenish/rests(culmination), the 2nd wave takes over and gains more territory, wave 3 is up next.

by pulling forces away to deal with kursk, rus wont have enough forces/supplies to man 3 waves in the south stalling out the push. the northern border was previously unguarded, to fully man the border will deplete manpower for attacking southern Ukraine.

the f-16s assuming they get clearance for JASSM can have an effect as the US has way more jassm than atacm to give.

rus has been trying to get veterans of the war to run for smaller political positions in the elections in an attempt to forstall the formation of an opposition faction based on putler's handling of the war.

let's hope we can get thru the nov dumping of the turd and that the kursk salient holds, there should be a good chance of a real turnaround in 2025.

So the counter attack is facing a counter counter attack. Nice. But...what if the counter counter attack faces a counter counter counter attack?

Perhaps one of the major goals of Russia's invasion, is more control over the world's food supplies.
Easy to supplant / corrupt NATO and blackmail the world if this stock was under Russian control.
Instead, Russia continues trying to destroy the world's food supply.

This occurred on or near the far west coast of the Black Sea, south of Odessa.
Oh, apparently it was bombed IN Romanian waters.

Civilian Grain Ship Hit By Russian Kh-22 Missile In Black Sea

A Turkish operated merchant vessel, the MV Aya, has been hit by a supersonic anti-ship missile in the Black Sea. The Kh-22 missile was launched from a Russian Tu-22M Backfire bomber. The ship was carrying 26,550 tons of grain for Egypt.
...
According to people familiar with the incident, the ship was hit by the missile at around 23:05 on September 11, 75km (46 miles) south of Snake Island. This places it in Romanian EEZ.

I would think that Russia would not want a Turkish response ... though if what you said is accurate i would expect one...

So it's correct to say that Russia is taking it from behind?
Indeed... but not so deep atm... they are a nuclear super power after all...

This is the best map showing the relationship of the movements between the Ukrainians and the Russians.

The reporting is likely a few days behind actual events. There used to be around 3000 Russian soldiers in this area, but despite the best Ukrainian efforts in destroying bridges and pontoons some crews and hardware assets have escaped over the Seym and likely joined the Russian counter offensive.

Who had taking it from behind and the acronym atm on their bingo card?

Little drunk Dima Medvedev is just furious again. I think NATO's assured response to Russian nuke use, plus China forbidding Putin from using them to begin with, is giving tiny another fit.

On telegram he posted:

“What arrogant Anglo-Saxon dimwits fail to admit, though, is that you can only test someone’s patience for so long. It will turn out in the end that certain moderate Western analysts were right when they warned: ‘True, the Russians are not likely to use this response, although… it’s still a possibility. Besides, they may use new delivery vehicles with conventional payloads.’

And then – it’s over. A giant blot of molten-grey mass in the place where ‘the mother of Russian cities’ once stood. Holy shit, it’s impossible, but it happened…”

He's likely talking about using a thermobaric FOAB in a missile, fired at Kyiv. Not outside the realm of possibility given surmountable technical changes and Putin's complete lack of regard for civilian lives. I hope it's just the tiny asshole trying to stay alive via bluster again.

President Biden asks Congress to make 5.8billion available to Ukraine after Sept 30.

"The White House has requested the extension be included in a continuing resolution House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has proposed. The money faces a use-it-or-lose-it deadline at the end of this month."

“We have $5.9 billion left in Ukraine Presidential Drawdown Authority; all but $100 million of which will expire at the end of the fiscal year,” said Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon press secretary."

Send it! Really hoping Johnson is still feeling supportive of freedom and democracy abroad, even if he isn't onboard with them at home.

Russians are pulling men and materiel from the front lines in Ukraine and funneling them into Kurst. This could lead to operational success for the Ukrainians during the upcoming mud season...

Also from the above thread;
We learned that these veichles had the same ground pressure (kg/dm2) as a man on skis.

I only hope that the Australian anti-drone Slinger system can be mounted on such vehicles. Light vehicles are at a massive disadvantage against drones, and the Russians do have them.

Romania condemns Russia's 'deliberate attack on cargo ship' carrying Ukrainian grain

Russia uses a Tu-22M bomber to fire a Kh-22 cruise missile at a NATO (Turkish) civilian cargo ship carrying food in NATO (Romania) waters.

Russia bombs NATO civilian ship in NATO waters.
And we are going to... collectively yawn while Romania wags its finger. Maybe sweep it under the rug and pretend it didn't happen, cause apparently no one cares?
Taiwan and South Korea need to be sweating bullets right about now. US and Allies are proving that we do not and can not do shit for anyone. Not even for ourselves.

...
About that... is this a real quote from Zelensky?

Western aid not enough to equip 'even 4 out of 14' underarmed brigades needed on the front

Sounds... bad.
Seems NATO is unable or unwilling to equip battalions. Lack of western aid is STILL the reason Ukraine continues to lose land. Which will be forever unless Russia collapses.

Well the issue is are they willing to go to war over this attack. I do think they should state that this direct attack on NATO has resulted in allowing long range weapons to be used against Russia.

Zelenskyy should be pleased to receive the aid President Biden is trying to send, we just have to hope the Putin Caucus in Congress doesn't sink it. Quality American tools will help ensure Putin's decimation of his countrymen continues.

Speaking of quality

"On Thursday Sept. 12, a M109 Paladin was being transported on a low semi truck when the vehicle seemingly got stuck at a railroad crossing in Goose Creek, South Carolina. A CSX freight train, unable to stop in time, plowed directly into it, sending the Paladin’s turret spinning from the impact. Though the truck and its trailer were smashed in the collision, the M109 Paladin, a 155mm Howitzer self-propelled artillery piece, seemed relatively unscathed."

Not too shabby.
