I think it's pretty clear that WW II was fought basically in two theaters: The European and the Pacific. The Axis consisted of Germany and Italy in the European theater, it was Japan in the Pacific. Japan occupied islands, China and Burma. Germany (I suppose to a lesser extent, Italy) occupied most of continental Europe, (bogged down in Russia) and there were major operations in north Africa.Well, exactly. FDR was giving a LOT of assistance to the UK but full involvement was unpopular at the time. The government wanted to help the UK more.
As for the genocide, there was no genocide as they understood it then occurring in 1939 or 1940, it really got going in 1942 at which time the US was already engaged in assiting to liberate Europe.
