Maybe not directly from Putin, but the very mention of oil hitting $100 a barrel certainly helps Putin vs the United States. If Russia invades, and Biden punishes Russia by limiting oil, then Americans will pay the price at the pump. And I don't know if Americans are prepared to see prices at the pump quadruple overnight? Not to mention heating cost, electricity costs, the cost of transporting goods, all of this linked to oil.
Imagine oil prices so outrageous that Americans can not afford to fill up, thus can not get to work, thus the economy takes another major hit. And thats just over here in America. What about the rest of the world?
