Think there's anything more effective than mass artillery bombardments for the front line? Something like drones delivering napalm straight into trenches or other means for mass casualties among infantry? Must be a way to break through the Russians like butter, short of WW1 style chemical warfare.

The Elbit developed M454 would do a good job, it replaces submunitions which are banned by many countries. Nobody really has a lot of stuff like this stocked because few people expected trench warfare to really be a thing in a modern conflict again. Unfortunately it is Israeli made.

F35 stealth fighters to gain air superiority and knock out their air defences, followed up by high level bombing to stay out of range of MANPADs.

Here is a good story explaining the shortage of Soviet caliber shells in Ukraine which is really the result of a sustained campaign of sabotage, threats, and violence against arms manufacturers and NATO arsenals. If the CIA vaporized some Russian munitions depots in a clandestine fashion I would not feel bad.

Reznikov lobbying hard for ATACMS. I think concerns that Ukraine would use these against Russian cities are pretty wrong. They'd go after high value assets like Russian S-300 surface to air complexes emplaced on Ukrainian soil. Maybe the naval base at Sebastopol that's reloading Russian ships with cruise missiles that are being lobbed at apartment blocks and grain storage terminals.

LOL—Moscow called it a “training flight” but more likely it was overloaded with gear headed to Ukraine and/or pulling extra duty between servicing downtime.

This will be their civil airplanes in a few months. They don’t have the parts (nor will they anytime soon) to service any Boeing/Airbus planes, so all the domestic stuff is likely pulling more flight hours between maintenance. Maybe they can buy a bunch of new planes from Brazil and China since Ruble is strong like bull???

There are rumors swirling that Ukrainian soldiers have entered Kherson city proper.

edit - one day later:
no follow up on this, so perhaps just rumors, sorry

Originally was reported with a video claiming to show Ukraine soldiers in Kherson, but then it seems all mention of Kherson has disappeared as far as I can tell. Zero reports mentioning Kherson in the past 20 hours as far as I can tell.

Last I saw, the closest Ukraine was to Kherson was 17km away.
I hope this news is true, it'd be a major change in tempo on a very crucial front in the war. At the very least, the northwest side of the Dnipro must be secured at all costs.
But it'd be highly unexpected if they closed that distance in just two days.

Interesting article

Russia targeted Ukrainian ammunition to weaken Kyiv on the battlefield - The Washington Post

It's crazy to think that Russia was blowing up ammunition depots in NATO countries without any repercussions.

And the west is still careful not to supply Ukraine with weapons that could potentially be used to strike Russia.

Couldn't they somehow put a block on the target system, only allowing coordinates within Ukraines borders?

It would be a blast if intelligence had been using this time to get USSR nuclear arsenal under control all while its conventional forces are getting grinded to dust in Ukraine, then in a couple of months a surgical strike on Moscow and topple the regime.
One can dream.

Been giving this some thought and reading. The Ukraine needs ATACMS now. We've been kinda on the back foot in supplying the equipment that Ukraine needs for much of the war - giving the Russians time to regroup, coalesce and alter their strategy to their advantage. The UKR need the ability to fire at long range, from safer locations, deeper into Russian occupied land as well as Russian supply lines, HQs and ammo/fuel dumps in Russia. The proviso that the Ukrainians don't fire on Russian townships will be upheld. In the medium term, the Russians will move HQs and ammo, etc into Russia towns - but it is much better to put them on the defensive, IMHO. Putin has other options b/4 going nuclear - he just doesn't want to pay the price yet (using more combat aircraft for example).
